What are you doing today?

Just logged out of Facebook after a rousing conversation about iced tea, of all things.
Two of my nieces, a nephew,my former sister-in-law and a friend of the family 🤣
So take me down a road that's a little bit windy
To a place they still put sugar in their iced tea
Where the women are fine and the love is fair
Hey, driver, you can drop me off anywhere

I think bi-polar kicked in. We used to call it manic-depressive, but that's not cool anymore.

I haven't cooked much in the 3 months since I retired. I'm not willing to say it's depression, but........
Yesterday we went to Detwilers Farm Market, and I came home with a LOT of stuff. Much of it has to get prepped or it will rot in the back of my fridge (cantaloupe, cilantro, scallions).

1. I cut up the Athena cantaloupe and stored in the fridge.
2. I washed the cilantro, picked through every single strand, cut fresh ends, and put it in water in a vase for storing I the fridge. Did the same with scallions.
3. Rubbed the ribs and packaged them for the sous vide.
4. Slivered the carrots and daikon and packed them in jars. Brined them and stored in fridge.
5. Baked off a loaf of take-n-bake chiabatta.
6. Sliced, then brined, then packed red onions. Into fridge.
7. Made egg bites with Swiss cheese, mushrooms, caramelized onions, spinach.
8. Kept cleaning up and washing dishes between each project.
Somewhere in there I made both breakfast and lunch.

Suddenly, it was a fter 6:00 and time for supper. I really didn't want to stay in the kitchen any longer, but I stuck it out and finished the ribs, cooked the corn, and served dinner.

It may not sound like much to some energetic folks, but right now it was a lot to accomplish.

It's a real lot! You must be beat! Time to put your feet up and enjoy a bit of the grape!

Today we drove to Yakima to buy peaches and ended up with two lugs of peaches, a lug of apricots, Rainier cherries, pie cherries, small bag of local tomatoes, and a10 pound bag of of Walla Walla sweet onions. It was 100 degrees F in Yakima, but tolerable.

You and Nancy are the royal couple of produce!

Had one helluva night at work.
I got there, one of my coworkers/nurse called in last minute.
Emily's father in law drowned in the river, so I was on my own on the back unit with two aides who had never been there before.
It was pretty wild.
I was never so happy to see 6a roll around.
It's going to be a very quiet day for me.

We're out camping!!! We spent some time up in Grayland and Westport. Yesterday, we moved to Long Beach, WA. It is just beautiful and the weather is great. Although, storms at the beach are nice too!

RV?

I’ll have to PM to you about what we do at hose places.

Getting ready for Debby heavy wind, rain and possible tornado.
Hope it doesn't come your way, Peeps.
Last I checked your weather it did have a watch.
Stay safe!

So a week or so ago, maybe longer, I had my son Jeff go to Ace Hardware for me and get some wasp/hornet killer.
I'm terrified of anything that bites or stings (not so much honey bees).
He sprayed this little slot above my front door where they've been going in and out.
We thought the situation was taken care of.
This morning as I walked outside for my morning walk and to get my mail yikes!
Sooooo he went and got a better killer, did it again.
I think this time it took care of them.

My landlady was going to have a professional exterminator come, but I don't think it's quite that bad.
I live in a very wooded area near the country.
This is the first time I've ever had a problem with them.

This is where they've been getting in.
Our eaves and roofs are being replaced in the coming months, so hopefully that's going to take care of it.
I'm going to ask Phil to please replace the trim work around my front door.

The victims. Lol

And... It's a gorgeous day here in Napoleon, Ohio.

Nancy has tai chi in Seattle at 1300 then we will take our time and drive to Snohomish for a 1700 wedding. I have no clue if there will be food after the wedding. The groom is the son of my fishing buddy and is a Capt in the Marine Corps. The bride is his high school sweetheart and Jag officer in the army. They were married in a court room last year and this will be a family wedding. She is half Philippine so it will be an affair, so there should be food.

I foresee an afternoon nap in my future.

Whenever I work the night shift, I come home and crash for a few hours, then I'm wide awake again 🥴
Last night I was so hoping one of my residents would pass, he's been on hospice for almost two weeks now and refuses to go.
His wife Brenda, whom I adore - spent the night in his room in a spare bed.
She was up and down all night walking the facility halls.
This morning I told the kitchen to please send her food trays, so she doesn't have to leave to go eat somewhere.
I'll miss Ralph when he goes.

The wedding was a beautiful outdoor affair followed by a cocktail hour then dinner. There were several hundred people attending so things went slowly. The dinner consisted of Caesar salade, asparagus, dinner rolls, and two pasta dishes, one a penne and the other bow ties. The odd thing was there was no cake but a table of cup cakes no one bothered to eat. On my wedding meter of 1 to 10 the food was a 3. It was typical of catered food on a budget. There was lots of good conversation and met many interesting people.

Nancy gave the food a 5 as the salad and asparagus were good. The pasta could have had more burger in it.

I shot skeet today, a 24 which is the best round I've shot since I left Germany, and my usual 20. I was chuffed. IBP pre made burgers on the grill tonight.
