What are you doing today?

It is a sunny 70 degrees day, so I made a sparkling coconut raspberry lemonade. Yum!

We did a recycle run to Fife then hit the Ukrainian market… old world shopping. I got Polish sauerkraut, canned beets, Polish sausage, and a package of Vienna sausages which are hot dogs with a snap. Nancy got a bunch of veg, some bologna for me, and a jar of sprats, among other things. There is so much there I could have spent several hundred dollars.

Didn't sleep much since getting home from work around 7am this morning.
Last night, everything that could possibly go wrong- DID!

Then, this morning Ty sends me this.
He had to go to the emergency room.
He was out on a tow when his nose started bleeding profusely.
It was a ruptured vessel in his nose.
Now he's sporting a tiny J-P drain for a few days.
My poor baby 😕

That happened to me a few years ago and was told to get tampons - no lie.
Yep.
The only thing he had in the truck were grease rags. He held two of those against his nose while driving, blood spewing all over the place and he was swallowing a lot of it too.
He said when he ran into the hospital, people were looking at him horrified, like he was shot in the face or something 😳.
He hates it when I call him baby, but i don't care lol

Sure can tell this is Friday the 13th.
This morning I took a piping hot fresh cup of coffee into the living room, immediately knocked it on the floor with my elbow off the side table, then almost slipped and fell in the shower 🙄.
The only good thing is finding out Jules and I are scheduled on the front unit tomorrow night.
Yes! 😊

Today we are going to hit a few quilt shops on the Olympic Peninsula- it’s called The Quilt Shop Hop. I’ll tag along in hopes of getting fish and chips some place. She got a 25 year old Brother embroidering machine that was like new at her quilt show. She’ll start a new quilt for next years how this fall.
We went to three shops, two were very good but the one on Bainbridge Island was a tourist trap store. We did a lot of driving and rush hour traffic from Bainbridge Island to Bremerton was awful. At least the fish shop was excellent.

Wow! What are the varieties?

Lee
Lemon Ricotta
Spinach Ricotta
Cremini Mushroom
Wild Mushroom
Lamb Rosemary

Also, we have a dessert Ravioli: Blackberry that gets fried with some chocolate fondue to dip it in.

All in all, we made about 200 ravioli...and froze most into packages which will be vacuum packed.

We wanted a reason to hang out and wreck the kitchen. ;) We started with a ravioli mold but they kept getting really stuck in the molds so we made them by freehand.

Fantastic, Kathleen!

Could you say more about the wild mushroom filling? I would absolutely love that, since I forage for wild mushrooms.

I need clarification of rules but posted you the recipe link in PMs. I ended up buying my mushrooms because I am not confident enough in my ability to identify mushrooms without Momma. I used a wide variety of them: Chantrelles, oysters, snow tops, shitaki, etc. It was a delicious filling!

Try posting the link. If you can't yet, I will post it for you.

I went to the post office today to AGAIN send an important document to the United Kingdom because the one I'd sent back in mid-May never got to it's destination.
The very grumpy postal clerk told me Priority Express International is no longer available.
Since when?
So I had to send it flat rate Priority Express.
A simple important document.
$50 to send it with a Customs Declaration and Dispatch note on the front. 🙄
At least I have tracking thru USPS to watch the timing, but only until it leaves here.
I'll have no idea when it gets there until my Pensions contact person alerts me.
Nothing is ever easy these days, I swear.

Today we drove down to Centralia for breakfast then hit 4 quilt shops on way home. The one in Shelton was out of the way but one of the best shops in WA. On the way home we stopped at Taylor Shellfish, Shelton, and got oysters and frozen Mexican shrimp.

I'm considering a bathroom upgrade. I don't want a remodel. If I could, I would repurchase my old fixtures, etc. Sadly they are wearing out as all but the toilet is original with the house. I thought of getting the tub and sink refurbished, but the problem are the faucets. They are so worn out and are basically holding together with prayer. My plumber said that he would unlikely be able to prevent another set of drips when the seating and valve give out again. So.....yeah. I want my old style stuff....but they are simply not made anymore. Second hand; old new stock; rescued architectural places, youtube, etc. etc. etc. I've been trying for more than 20 years....it is like how the kitchen remodel came to be: No one could refurbish my stove for less than an entire redo would cost. So....today, I met with a bathroom designer. She is sending out a contractor on Monday. I spent today sorting through stocks of sinks and tubs going, "Hate it. Uh, no. Uh-uh. Nope. Not at all. Ew. Well...i guess it could be worse."

My house was built shortly before WWII. I absolutely love the vibe and strong practicality of things like the tub. A hint of art deco, but really a no-frill tub. The sink has cute cut-outs...but again, a basic porcelain over cast iron sink. Even very spendy stock is just too modern or trying to mimic art deco or old farm looks with a trendy flare. Meh.

I feel for you! We did a bathroom remodel just before Covid lockdown...I mean it finished about 2 days before lockdown! We had to move out of our bedroom for the duration.
