What is Your Weather?

Bump..

HOT ENOUGH FOR YA?:yum::hide:

It's still 91° here!
Well at least the wind chill is 87.. and thank the sweet Lord Jesus for air conditioning!

It's 82 today with 33% humidty. Tonight it will drop down to 59 degrees. That's one nice thing about the weather here. The humidty can drop to zero and it also cools off at night. Of course zero humidty does not help the fire danger.

We have 96* right now - it was 101 today, with a heat index of 114. Humidity 50%. Same forecast for tomorrow, then "cooling" to a high of 95 for Sunday.

I feel for y'all that are sweltering in the heat. lemme ask this: Would you trade for 23 straight days of rain?
At this point? YES!! LOL

We finally got some rain today in the form of a severe wind and rain storm.
The temp dropped from 98 to 76 rather quickly.
The heat isn't done with us as yet I'm afraid.
We here in the midwest are going to have to suffer for a few more days with a couple of relief days (Monday and Tuesday) then the heat is on again.
grrrrrrr

YES! lol
We have not had measurable rain in about 2 months. Our lake is a little over 7 foot low and going down every week. Everything green is now yellow and trees have leaves falling already.
Last week we had 107 and heat index was 113. Too damn hot!!

The last 2 days were 100F+ heat indices as high as 113F. Today 96F with heat index of 100F at the momment.

It was cooler in florida! LOL

PS - we do NOT have AC.

Maybe time to start thinking about it?

I have a portable one room air conditioner that works very well. It wasn't that exensive either. I use it primarily in the bedroom so we do not have to cool down the whole house.

Ouch! No AC has got to be rough!

I’m in an older house and it doesn’t have central air, so I use window units.

I know there are a lot of people that don’t like window units because it changes the appearance of your home. I understand that.

Leni has a pretty good idea. If that portable unit is what I’m thinking about, all you have to do is run a vent hose to a window - kind of like running a dryer exhaust house out a window?

No one could see that, and you could have AC, especially in your bedroom at night!

That's the one. You also need to run a tube from the air conditioner to something that will hold the water that is condensed out of the air. It gets the room (16' X 17') down to 64 degrees.

Wow! I had no idea they worked THAT good! That's awesome!

The way our old-style Mexican house is built (open in places, with decorative bricks or iron for security), it is not air-tight enough to use air conditioning. The only people who seem to have AC here are gringos and very very rich Mexicans. Electricity is really expensive here, that's one reason. The other reason is that you just never acclimate to the tropical climate if you are in and out of AC all day. There are only a few nights a year that we don't sleep well because of the heat/humidity (tonight may be one of them-LOL.)

You and Jerry use fans though, don't you Karen?
I'd imagine just some air movement might make things more comfortable for you, especially in a home where you have no carpeting?
Now, my next question:
Does Milo sleep outdoors in his cage, or is he in the house with you and Jerry?
I LOVED the latest pic of him eating those fruity goodies.
He's a precious fattie boy!

Thanks, Sass - I will let Milo know about your compliment! He is a precious boy. He sleeps outside, on the back patio, in a 3' X 10' enclosure that Jerry built for him, with lots of places to climb and play inside. He does spend a fair amount of time running around loose, though, especially in the evenings. He loves to wander around in the house, and always ends up in the shower - that's the first place we look when we can't find him. And he seems to have house-trained himself - he's never left a mess behind in the house. Of course, he isn't really sleeping when we're sleeping, because he is nocturnal. Poor Milo. I'm sure he gets lonely.

Yes, we have good-sized ceiling fans in every room, and we have a pretty good breeze most of the time, because we're just a few blocks from the ocean. All of the floors are Mexican tile, and stay pretty cool. We do most of our living outside - we seldom eat in the dining room, except in cool winter. It's just a different way of living, and it's the way most folks in the tropics have always lived. You do get used to it...it's funny, though - now that we have a big air-conditioned supermarket (which just opened a few years ago), alot of families spend Sunday afternoons at Mega! Not a good time to go shopping - the place is just crawling with little kids running around, having a great time!

Thanks Karen!
It must be like paradise living as you and Jerry do.
Whenever you post anything, I am always hoping you include bits of 'life' there. :thumb:.. and always hoping for a Milo update. :D

It's only 87 here today, it's a Cold Snap!!! :w00t:
Same here at just before 11 AM it is 87F feels like 91F. High expected to be 92F (not sure what that heat index will be, 55% humidity at the moment). Rain expected. We are on our way out to visit the farm market. Will probably just get a sammie from their deli and browse. Maybe some veggies if they look nice and have a good price and a few things I can't find other places (like rosehip tea, imported pastas etc). Just need some time out.
