What's On The Plates? Sunday April 27 - Saturday May 3 2025

This is excellent!
Lee, I substituted the tahini with peanut butter, added paprika too.
Didn't add any extra salt because the flavour was there.
I used Mission whole wheat pita, even though I have naan which would have worked just fine.
I've got lots left for Saturday dinner, because tomorrow night I'm treating Jules to her belated birthday dinner.

I do believe you've invented an entirely different dish! Sass Ganoush!

What are taco papers, and where can I buy them?
I buy them at US Foods Chef's Stores (Originally, Smart & Final and more recently, Cash & Carry...and a number of names in between that I don't remember...LOL). Any restaurant supply store should have something like them. See below...

I have one that's similar; except it has one more hole, for the Index finger ... sometimes, it's on the one hand, sometimes on the other: Sometimes, I wish I had bought TWO...
Okay, enough about anything bu dinner, lol !

Looks great, Muffcake! When you have a chance, would you please post your recipe in the Ethnic forum?

Hi Lee
Apologies for the late reply—I was caught up with quite a bit last week.

I found a very helpful page that shows how to make stuffed vine leaves, and you can check it out here:

It’s a great guide with pictures and tips if you're looking for a detailed recipe.

However, I made a few changes to suit my own preferences. I added about 1 cup of cooked split peas to the filling for a bit of extra texture and protein. Instead of using fresh tomatoes, I used tomato paste—sautéed it briefly in a little oil and then added it to the water in the pot for extra depth of flavor. I also left out the black pepper, allspice, and cumin. And to give the dish a slight sweet-and-sour note, I added both lemon juice and a little sugar to the cooking water.

Hope that helps!

Do you remember where you got the brace? I can only find one or the other not with both fingers.

We are sorta finally getting back to cooking some half way decent meals on a daily basis.
The living room was a mess while doing new walls and chair rail updates.
The kitchen will be next for updates.
Today we had pizza, and a big bowl of a garden salad. We did have the easter dinner, but that was the last real cooking that we did. Actually, yesterday the Mrs. made a pot of stuffed cabbages. Sunday is DIL's birthday, so we will be cooking for Sunday's dinner.

I'm making Mary's Mac & Cheese and I'll likely make some meatballs of some sort too. I like Mary's recipe because it uses fewer pots/pans as there is no roux to make. In other words, it is easy! ;) Yes, it calls for Velveta, don't knock it if you haven't tried it. And Cheddar too, recipe says to buy it shredded, but I prefer to shred it myownself.
Good dinner and enough leftover to take to mom and freeze for future meals too! Win-win.

I saw this at the store & bought it. Instructions said
vent bowl, Microwave 2 1/2 minutes, then stir, recover
& Microsoft another 2 1/2 minutes.
I microwaved 2 1/2 minutes, uncovered stirred &
tasted it. A lot of juice, not much of anything else.
Well, I am adding the rest of my fried rice from the
other day & the last 3 tiger Shrimp I had left in the bag.
I'll post a pic later. I'm defrosting my shrimp.
