What's For Dinner - - Sunday November 9 ➡️ Saturday November 15 2025

Chicken soup is on the menu. I woke up with a sore scratchy throat..... So soup to the rescue!
Mom also made toast well darkened. She said it scratched the poison off the throat.
Oh, and must not forget that tip of the spoon of Vicks Vapo rub to kill the germs in the throat...

Eating early.
Had a banana with my supplements this morning after getting home, so I'm pretty hungry.

Top sirloin, sweet potato both with garlic/herb butter.
Steamed asparagus and decided to toss some air fried onions rings in the mix.

Had to watch my BEARS today. (They won! Go BEARS!)

Food to watch football by....in no particular order.....Assorted crackers and melba toast, some dried tropical fruits and semi-dried figs, fresh apples, blueberries and tiny tomatoes, pork and liver pate with mushrooms, cream cheese with homemade pepper jelly, serrano ham (not part of what I bought today,) a really creamy herbed cheese roll from Lidl, and a strong cheddar- based cheese from the farmer's market. For "dessert", we split a chocolate bar with pistachio filling (on the plates at the bottom.)

This taco soup is delicious!
I drained and rinsed the black beans and pintos, as well as the corn.
The chili was Jack Links/no beans.
Didn't know they made chili now.
The tomatoes are Rotel diced with lime juice and cilantro.
I found it to be a bit thick, so added about 1/2 c of beef broth. That worked.
I wasn't crazy about adding a Velveeta cheese pouch, but man!
It all came together beautifully.

I felt like having something of a chicken nature, but didn't have anything thawed. Thank God for the inventor of rotisserie chicken (whomever he or she was).

This one was a bit charred which made it particularly delicious! One of my last tomatoes with truffle oil, Maldon salt and my basil. Perfect steamed asparagus.
