What is Your Weather?

i saw that forecast this morning, peep! yikes is right.

today's supposed to be beautiful though, and i'm stuck working 24 of the next 28 hours in rooms without even so much as a single window.

i'd rather be sweating my cajones off outside somewhere.

I'm so sorry, Bucky. How is it you always pull the crappy shifts??

Not to rub it in or anything, but we have a glorious, sunny 75-degree day right now, and I took it off as a comp day. I'm headed out to sit on the porch while my nail polish dries

Wow!! Enjoy your day and long holiday weekend!! BTW what color? Do your fingers and toes match?

lol, peep. you just reminded me of when someone gets a cigarette and asks you for a match.
my butt and your face?

i get stuck working crappy shifts because i have a family to provide for, and because it ensures i get to be a critical part of the infrastructure here so i should survive any kind of layoff if thje economy worsens. but mostly it's because i'm greedy and are incapable of budgeting. :bonk:

hmm, i think this would be a good poll: would you work a lot of o.t. it were available, and if it was at double time or better?

Toes are fuchsia and fingers are a sparkly lavender

Bucky, we are in a right-to-work (read right-to-fire) state, so no OT for salaried employees like me and DH. In any case, I take all the time off I'm entitled to, and sometimes I even borrow from next year. My job is stressful enough without working a lot of extra hours.

With all the medical problems I've had, I feel I need to work reasonable hours in order to maintain what health I have and do the best I can at work. And this quote (can't remember who said it) resonates with me: "No one ever said on their death bed, 'I wish I'd spent more time at my job.' " I come home, I garden, I cook for me and DH - I do low-tech things that make me happy, and that in turn helps me be as healthy as I can be. Tonight, DH is golfing with a friend, so I'm going to a wine tasting and a gallery opening, part of First Friday festivities in my town.

I know what works for me doesn't necessarily work for others, so this is just MHO

no, gg, what you described is normal and healthy. but when they dangle money in front of you, it's like a carrot on a stick and i'm the mule.

believe me, gg, i do think of them all the time and go way above and beyond to be there for them.

i just got back from home on my dinner hours. every night that i work a double 'till midnight, i don't take my lunch and dinner hours all day, and then race home to give dw a little break, as well as help my boy get ready for bed and to read together. tonight, my boy insisted on reading to me, so he chose "if you give a moose a muffin".

gotta love a 6 year old foodie, lol.

and then it's a death race back iinto the city before my 2 hours are up to finish out my shift.

ok, well, getting back on topic: it's a beautifiul night out there tonight. good for driving like a maniac on route 80. :whistling:

God, I love this weather. Our typical June gloom seems like it's a month behind this year.
This morning I woke up to gloomy, overcast sky with light drizzle, and about 65F. Wish the whole summer stays like this...:D

Since summer started (June 21 solstice), we've had hot, dry weather. Now today, we also have very cool temps with clouds, maybe some rain/drizzle. High of 66 today.

We are looking at 100 degrees Wednesday... called a "tolerable" heat wave, because the humidity is supposed to be low... so we will only have like 102 heat index.

yum. NOT!!!!!!!

104°f yesterday low was at 4:00am was 78°f they say hoter today, gota go to the beach today I think.

7 day forecast has high temps in the low 70's. Nothin' wrong with fried green tomatoes but I'd like to eat 1 ripe 'mater from the garden this year.

we have brooklyn weather here this weekend. two h's, an f, and another h.

101 with heat index of 103. We're suppose to be 105 tomorrow. WTH will the heat index be? Jeez I'm SO ready for cool weather again!!

Not bad here today. We are in the midst of our rainy season, and it was cloudy most of the day. Highs in the high 80s, humidity to match. No rain yet today, but it is looking threatening.
