What are you eating Sunday, 5/18/2025 to Saturday, 5/24/2025?

NY strip, pan-seared in butter. Mushrooms sauteed in butter (with a splash of soy sauce). Spinach and barley.

BTW, I think regular spinach is better cooked than baby spinach is.

I so agree about the spinach. Baby spinach has no flavor, but it's hard to find regular spinach anymore.

We used to buy spinach in bunches. Now it's all bagged. Not as good or as fresh...

I agree, Baby Spinich does not have the
flavor of Regular Spinich.
I haven't been to Long John Silvers in
10 or more years. I swore I would never go back.
Anyhow, The $5.99 coupon was good for 2 pc. basket
fish, hushpuppies, & Waffle fries. I actually liked
the fish. Hush puppies ok, waffle fries sucked.

Pretty decent portion for $6, even with crummy fries!

Tonight we had Chicken Saltimbocca, with capers fried sage, and artichokes, over pappardelle. I loved the white wine/lemon butter sauce.

Because of the artichokes, I had a Gruner Veltliner, so as not to taste metallic.
We only ate about 2/3 of it - lunch tomorrow.

Beautiful, Kathy! So many delicious flavors!

I think fried sage is God's gift to garnishes.

It was chicken soup tonight as a starter, then, DD and I shared four dozen steamers.
( Clams ). Tina doesn't like clams. Now comes dessert, which is held off till later. Tina picked up apple and cherry turnovers. Pepperidge Farms brand. We haven't had them, since we used to get them at the commissary years ago. The only difference was that they were made by Pillsbury. The best part, was using the drizzle icing, and arguing who got more than the other. 🍎

Well, I continue to try to find a good roasted okra recipe. Tonight's was not it. It was oiled, seasoned, then tossed with potato flour and roasted at 450 for 30 minutes. Not crispy at all - very chewy. Maybe I had old okra. Or didn't cook long enough.

But, on the plus side, since I had the potato flour out anyway, I shook my chicken thighs up in that instead of A/P flour. VERY crispy skin!
