What are you doing today?

It poured down rain all day. I finally got tired of looking at all the fir needles and leaves on the patio and hot tub so went out in the rain and hosed everything down, shocked the tub, and may get in tonight.

The bird seed tube was wet so dumped out all the seeds onto the ground. A bit ago I had about 30 pine siskins come to the ground to feed. They are one of my favorite little birds and haven't seen a flock that big since the early 90's when I had several hundred come through the yard to feed. It's funny how something like that can bring one so much pleasure.

Rain is good, but enough is enough already! LOL

I feed the birds and yesterday there were 28 turkey buzzards in the yard after I threw out outdated meats from the freezer.
It's so funny to watch them fight in pecking order.

Sittin here in the kitchen. DD is here baking Christmas cookies, and I am here with a mug of coffee, and sampling the cookies. yummmm.

Raining here in East Texas 7.6" last night and still raining. I love it so does all the trees and animals and birds.
So am working inside, we bought 2 30# boxes of shelled nuts, one of pecans and one of English walnuts. Packaging them in vacuum bags, 4 cups to the bag. Then into the freezer. CF:)

Did you see the picture of the garage door on the link I provided? LOL

Had to go back and look .

Speaking of birds, I've been seeing a lot of red-headed woodpeckers. I'm not really sure if that's their technical name. They have red heads and beautiful speckled black and white backs, so I call them red-headed woodpeckers...works for me.

That would be fun to watch. My bud in Oregon picks up road kill and puts it in a special place and the vultures come in to feed almost as soon as he puts it out. They are amazing at knowing he has something for them. The deer he wires to a tree for the bear and cougar.

The pine siskins were back today and threw out more seeds for everyone.

I imagine they are downey woodpeckers.

There is a pair of pileated woodpecker that have been nesting in the neighborhood the past three years. Sometimes they come to the feeder for seeds or to peck in my pear tree. They are huge.

We have them around here but saw many more when I lived in the Midwest.

I installed two new higher quality smoke detectors today and am heading out the door to WinCo for a few house items. They are more of a warehouse store and food is less expensive.

My wife said,"hey hon, when you painted the ceiling in the hallways, how come you didn't put back the smoke detectors?"

I said, " cuz I stopped smoking 4 1/2 years ago!".... LOL...

She said, yeah, " but you didn't stop being a HAM!"

I did a big Christmas decorating job on the house. LOL.
I took the new Star Laser light ( As seen on TV ) and stuck it in a pipe, and aimed it at the house. What an easy thing to do. SIMPLE ....
Looks OK. Of course DD hung lights on the porch and post and rail fence about two weeks ago.
I will see if I can take a photo of the lights, and I'll post it.

Ha Ha Ha .... About oh say 25 years ago, I was busy working, and had no time to nail up lights on the house. We had one of those color wheel lights that my mom had for the 1960's Aluminum tree. That was a fad in the 60's.....that; along with fondu pots.

Anyway, I built a black box to protect the color wheel from the weather, and stuck the wheel / spot light in the box, and that was it. Done!
The house ( a white color )....would turn red, then green, blue and yellow. Yep! I was proud of that project.......but.....on the other hand, the Mrs. was totally pixxed.
.....her ranting.."Sure, 10 minutes, and you think the decorations are done?" huh?
"If that isn't the laziest way to decorate!" yadda yadda yadda..... All while I sat and sipped on a Whisky Sour. Another 60's drink, to go along with the color wheel. Double shots of alcohol for me though! LOL

Here is a photo of the laser star lights on the house.....

Here is the contraption $39.99 + $20.00 shipping to get it before Christmas.
DW was the one who wanted this thing!
I'm just waiting for some snot nosed kid to swipe it. I did wire it to the pipe to make it difficult to quickly swipe it.

i woke. again. i got dinner, kind of. i saw a few movies. i hafta decorate. my Mom said so, & she is my Mom, so i hafta listen.
think i see my doctor early on.

I've been decorating the lazy man's way for years with just 6 green flood libhts pointed at big wreaths on each window. A few strands of lights but that varies every year. No ladders or staples or stuff like that.
I will have to check out your contraption. We don't watch commercials as a rule so I have not seen them advertised. Please post a link to them if you know one.

That looks really nice, Jimmy.

Now why didn't we come up with the idea for that little contraption. We'd be rich :blob_blue:. That's a very popular little thing this year, and I'll bet they're making a ton of moolah...can't cost much to make plus they rip you on the shipping .

Yeah .... thanks !
I'm just hoping it lasts the season. Two would be better!

Been doing nothing for three days now!~
Battling a nasty @$$ cold. Just sleeping and watching TV as I lay in my fart sack.
Tina made me chicken soup, and that has been great.
I look and feel like a scrounge.
As I sleep, Tina sprays me with fabreeze. She said she is tempted to spray it in my open mouth as I sleep; mouth wide open, snoring and gasping for air to breath!
I told her, I can't breath through my nose, so it would be a lot easier to waterboard me.

I know not what for? But i'm sure she'd want to get something out of me. LOL.

We had an elderly lady crash at church yesterday, right after I shook her hand at The Peace. At first I thought she was dying, the EMT's were called, they started an IV and her vitals were fine. It turns out she was dehydrated and eventually her husband took her home. Our church is only a block from the fire department.

Today I'm doing a bit of house cleaning and prep for pie making and fruit cakes.

It's pouring rain and dark and dreary. That is all.

I am making a home-brewed beer (low-alcohol beer) for the Christmas.

:WitchBrewsSmiley:

After bottling it, I am planning to make malt bread from the mash of the beer.

Well, I made it another year.

Had some Ravioli and sausage for lunch.....and Headed down to clean the poopie boxes in the Kitty bathroom.
Watching the TV news, and sipping on a 7&7. Feels like it's time for a nap. I shall see.
