Think that you don't have a double boiler? Get a small 1-qt bowl (everyone has one) & a 3-qt sauce pot (everyone has one of those also), & voila!! You have a make-shift one!!

We have a metal insert bowl with handles for a double boiler. They are available starting at $16 on Amazon.

Glass is an insulator, not a conductor. It's really an inefficient means to boil water.
