Yet another newbie

Re: Happy Birthday Buckytom!!!

thanks very much, everyone.

nothin' special going on today. just a regular work day, then home for dinner. i'll probably take tomorrow off to take down the ool and get some yard work done.

i'm thinking of turning the area that the pool occupied into a stone patio, or possibly a wooden deck that can be removed to re-install the pool next year. gotta look into it. anyone have any ideas?? tia.

Happy, Happy Birthday, BT! You've given me (and all of us) so many smiles and belly-laughs, my friend - I hope your day brings you just as many. I raise my glass to you and your beautiful parents on this special day.

BT, I caught you on fb and forgot to wish you a happy, healthy, joy-filled year, here. Hope the celebrations were able to take place.

Happy belated Birthday BT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope it was a great one!

Re: Happy Birthday Buckytom!!!

thanks again, everyone. my birthday sucked. i guess you can't have fun all the time.
never the less, dw bought me a brinkmann smoker. now i have to decide if i want to keep it and learn how to use charcoal, or return it for an lp smoker.

Re: Happy Birthday Buckytom!!!

Yay, a smoker!
Which one you end up with depends on how you like to do things. Do you like to fiddle with things? Would that add anything to the way you look at the finished product? Or are you more a set it and forget it? Let's say the finished product is exactly the same, even though there are those who say it isn't, would you gain any satisfaction having learned how to maintain your temps using charcoal? Me personally, I think it adds to the whole smoking experience, but seeing as how I grill several times a week, including throwing just romaine and garlic bread on the grill, gas is the way to go. I need convenience when I grill, I don't when I smoke.

Couldn't have said it better. :thumb:

Re: Happy Birthday Buckytom!!!

yeah, that's my dilemma. i prefer a "set it and forget it" because i'm always so busy, but almost everything i read says you have more control and better flavour from charcoal.

smoked asian? hmm, now you've got me thinking, cheeks.

i think i am legally obliged to make real abts and fatties first. my bil swears by smoking turkeys, so chicken or turkey will be shortly after.

Well you don't have to keep a constant eye on a charcoal smoker, but either method and you're going to have to plan your "busy" around your Qing.

15 Year AA Birthday

My DW and myself are celebrating 15 years Clean and Sober.
I drank since I was 12. Loved the pschodelics.
I really didn't believe all them people at the AA/NA meeting who was celebrating 5 years or better.
IT CAN BE DONE!
DW & I still go watch good bands at clubs, we just drink Soda.

Re: 15 Year AA Birthday

Fantastic, Dan - congratulations!

Celebrate by having a nice big fat dessert tonight!!!
