What is Your Weather?

Good day everyone.

73F here. May loose power. REALLY BIG and BAD storm in progress. Says may include straight line wind up to 75MPH and tornadoes!! The thunder is making ME jump!!

When I was a kid I was outside at the beginning of a storm even before it began to rain a tree across the street got hit by lightning. I was paralyzed by the shock of seeing it. ALL the hair on my body actually stood up. I thought that only happened in the cartoons, I felt all tingly and the smell!! I can't explain the smell. OZONE, fresh, clean come close. I was in front of a store. I remember arms grabbing me from behind and some say get in here child! The owner of the store ran out and grabbed me off the street. LOL Since then I really like to watch lightning from a distance (it is beautiful to watch the magnificence of nature from a distance) but thunder makes me JUMP. I love the smell just before, during and after a good rain. It smells renewed and refreshed.

Ohhh! Great story peep. Thank God or we would have had "Fried Peep!" hahahahaha

I love lightening and Thunder Biggies!
When I was a kid...I would me on the back porch with an umbrella and a blanket watching the storm.
My mom would finally pull us inside if it was too violent.

She would be looking out the window with her rosaries hanging, and every time lightening would strike....she would say as she crossed her forehead with her thumb,..."Santa Barbara Mia" .... ( Saint Barbara was the patron sait of lightening storms !)

its 70º and cloudy at 11:28 right now!

Today... Cloudy... humidity high. 74%

Temp = 68º Not bad.

Rain forecast for next 4 days... I could do with that! The Grass / Weeds came back to life at least.

Rainey and very muggy today. I remember as a little kid we lived in a farm house that fronted out toward a large wheat field and my brothers and I used to love to stand out on our front porch and watch a rain storm "walking" across the field toward us. Until that old farm house was struck by lightening and burned badly I used to love thunder and lightening storms, too. Now I hide out with our animals (dog and cats) and would probably hide beneath the bed if I could fit under there! Thanks, Jimmie, I never knew that St. Barbara was the patron saint of lightening. But I've known several Barbaras who were lightening bolts........great gals, every one.

It's going to be in the 90's today.

I'll never forget the time my sister and I were playing canasta in the den with my cousins back in Leawood Kansas. A lightening bolt hit so close to the house that there was no time between the light and the thunder. Talk about bright and loud! All three of them screamed and jumped on me I guess because I was the oldest. The electricty was out of course. Our parents came in to see if we were okay. We were except for jangled nerves. Darn it I was winning that game but the cards were all messed up. Had to start over with flashlights.

I agree with you Peeps. The air smells so clean after a rain. All of the junk is washed out.

Today was not too hot. Only 77º for a high, but the humidity was high. Too high to shut down the A/C cooling..

DD is here in front of her corn patch.
I said to her,"SOOooo, where is MY Corn??"

She said,"You can have it if you are a sheep!"
This is for silage for feed!!

So, I said...next time plant some Daddy Corn!
Just got a silly look! hahahaha :yum:

Geepers, Now I have a hunger for Corn on the Cob with dripping butter and Old Bay Seasoning!

August Monday 6th..3:55 PM

81º Humidity is Low...only 43%... I can live with that.

No rain due till Friday ?? That'll have to be seen than heard.
Had some quick downpours last night, but if 1/4" of rain, that was it!

59º tonight, and with the low humidity, that may warrant opening up and airing out the house. I know Tina is getting snakey being closed up.

Me...I love it. It's cozy! It gives me an appetite too! A voratious one!

The temp is 75 and 40% humidity only! The A/C cooling is O F F thank you mother nature. The fan is on exhausting and bringing in the cool air.

N I C E ! .....

It is going to be even hotter today and hotter each day for the next several days. Today it will go up to 110.

At 2:30.. the Sun is peeking through a haze, and it's 79º with 49% humidity. There is a breeze too.

Windows are closed, and the A/C is back on. It's not extreme heat but just a little too humid for our liking.

Temps are more mellow now, and with September just ahead, I doubt any more heat stroke days here.

It is easy to see now that the sun is changing its azimuth and the late day position trickles sunlight in a orange glow through the leaves of the trees differently than a month ago.

The weather has been crazy around here. The other night we had a hail storm. Luckily, I just had some medium sized limbs scattered about. This morning it was cool enough for a sweater, but now it's heating back up.

Without the tree limbs, I'm sure the cool down is a welcome from Texans!

Tina's cousins in Texas say 80's is cool..and 70's is sweater weather. WoW!

Todays forecast is 82º with t-storms 5 PM.

It's 1:30 PM and it's 80º out. Humidity is 60%Rh. Yuck!!

I don't see any more high 80's anymore. 2 more weeks and september will be here, and sometimes that can be on the cool side.

70º at around 10:30PM

Got the fan running to pull in milder air. The bedroom A/C is on though.

Tomorrow and Wednesday rain 80º. Not too bad.

That it is. I'm having to water my veggie garden every day and my bromeliads two and three time a day, especially the tillandsias.

It is beautiful out today. 71F and breezy! I opened the windows and turned off the A/C. We will probably go for a ride to the farm to buy some fresh produce etc.

It really cooled down...

64º right now..

DW is bundled up with a jacket today, and she's in the living room watching TV. Haaaaaaa!!

It's cooled off some here too, but I know it won't last long. Lots of years at Thanksgiving it's still flip-flop weather.

I believe summer has ended here anyway!

It has been cooler during the day, and like today, not even 70 yet at 3:20PM.

September is right around the corner.

With 50's overnight, that is the sign of no more swealtering hot day's.

The weather channel says 72º at Port Murray; but their thermometer is near the little community airport and they get radiation warm currents from the landing strip.

My electronic sensor is North side in the shade and reads 69.0ºF.
