What are you doing today?

Good luck, Leni, with your termite tent. That has to be a big ol' pita.

I've been working in the yard some trying to get it back into shape.

Yes, we did too, enjoyed risotto with peas and chicken along with Clint Eastwoood. He definitely made my day:)

I've been working on choosing some new tile. The tile flooring in this house hasn't been updated in over 15 years, so I finally chose a porcelain that has a travertine look, or at least it does to me. I wanted something less expensive than travertine and didn't want to have to have it professionally cleaned and re-sealed every year.

Chose this for the floors (no inlay or anything fancy on mine):

For the the kitchen backsplash, I chose a simple Daltile white subway. I wanted something plain and classic that wouldn't get dated quickly. Right now I have white tile with a fruit inlay :glare: that I absolutely hate.

I'm just dreading the dust and the noise.

DD #2 has been sick all week with a virus and I have been up every night with her so not much sleep. She also had a rash which the doctor gave a cream for. It has gotten so bad she was crying from pain. The doctor said give a couple days for the cream to work but has gotten worse. This morning it was so bad hub took her back to doctor. Sometimes the wait is so long especially on saturday. I need to pick DD #1 up from work so I stayed home. I got call from hub saying he is at the hospital!! It is a cyst! They need to wait for a doctor to come and take care of it. So I am waiting to hear whats going on. I am going crazy waiting.

Was really wanting to go to Shipshewana, Indiana with some GF's, but decided I can't afford it.
Especially since they've decided to spend the night in a B&B, and do two days of Christmas shopping and eating all that gorgeous Amish country food.

Holy crap, I'd come back broke.

Hope your daughter gets better real soon, Peeps.

Thank you Lollie. It is at the base of her spine right at the top of her butt.

Just got another call. They are waiting on blood work to see what her white blood cell count is and how bad the infection is. They gave her a shot of morphine and she sounds high as a kite. I am going to be a wreck driving.

Be careful while driving. The worse part of a situation like this is the waiting and not knowing what you are facing.

We ended up having to tent the house. When we came back it was 107 and the A/C was not working. The next day the hot water heater went out. Day after that the A/C went out again.

Peeps and Leni - We feel so very badly for both of you going through the trials you're having to deal with. Prayers are going up, even as I write this, Peeps, that your daughter will come through with flying colors. One possibility that comes to mind is shingles. That manifests itself as a nasty, painful rash much like what you described. It usualy happens to folks considerably older than I assume your daughter is, however. As for your string of bad luck, Leni, we hope and pray for you that the weather and the intense heat will break and things will finally settle down for you. Every time I think things are as bad as they can get I just look around and see people I know who are having things so much worse and then I realize that God's so good to us! May He cut you all some slack, as well.

Ian and Fallon

Peeps I hope everything works out for your daughter. Thoughts and prayers on the way.

I have been finishing pens and boards for the Nyack street fair tomorrow

There is a vaccine for shingles and I've had it. If your daughter has had chicken pox she should get the vaccine. Sure hope that isn't what your daughter has Peeps. My DH has had it and it was not fun. Very painful.

It has FINALLY started to cool down here. Things are going well here. The only problem is the refi for the house.

Glad all is well with you Leni.

My DD's never had chicken pox. I made sure they both got the vaccine. We had to pay for DD#1 to get it but DD#2 got it for free because by then it was a mandatory vaccine. I had severe case of chicken pox when I was a kid but hub never had it.

Thank you for all the well wishes. Last night they admitted my daughter and operated to remove the cyst. Everything is alright the infection didn't spread and they drained it. They kept her overnight for observation. She came home a couple hours ago. She has meds and she is in pain but well.

peepz, hugs. she has her Mom, & there were doctors/nurses to make her well, too. & i'm thinkin' she'd appreciate a dinner u made~ if not now, soon. nothing like a Mom to make things ok.

I'll certainly second that motion, Luvs. Nothing in the world like a Mum meal to make a person feel better! So glad to hear that things went well, Peeps. Now some good rest and having you there will make your daughter feel wonderful again, soon.

Leni, so glad for you that things are leveling off. Hopefully the intense heat is behind you now.

Ian :bounce:

Sorry I missed this Peepers. I'm glad to hear that everything turned out alright though. I hope she has a speedy recovery.

I have been doing some general spiffing up around the house lately. When I was watering and washing off the leaves of some of my house plants, I noticed that my corn plant was blooming. I've had it for about 15 years and have never seen it bloom. I cut the blooms off because of the sticky stuff they produce and then went and read about them. They're supposed to be beautiful. Oh well.....

Today I joined here :thumb:

I went to see mum this morning and had a coffee and chat with her and then did a bit of gardening this afternoon, now relaxing with a coffee :)
