Nice muffins Shermie!

I made my first batch of bread since my bread machine bit the dust. I used my Kitchen Aid. It was a little more work but not too much. I'm still on the fence if I want another bread machine. I made 2 loaves of Italian Bread this time. My first time making Italian Bread. I need to work on the shaping of it a little more. Once it cools, we'll see if it tastes as good as it smells

Yep.....it tastes as good as it smells!
:wow: OH MY LORD!! RECIPE pretty please.

Well done, grasshopper. To nailed it on your very first try, so forget about another bread machine. You've proved that you don't need it.

Thanks Joe. Playing with the dough is fun but a bread machine has its' benefits too. It's nice being able to just put the ingredients in the pan and mash the button and when the beeper goes off you just form the loaves. It's also nice to be able to put everything right in the bread maker, set it and wake up to the smell of fresh baked bread. I'm going to stick with my KA for a little while before I decide.

I'm thinking Kaiser rolls may be next!

My goodness Joe.....what time do you get up? Do you hit the ground running in the mornings? Beautiful bread BTW!

I used to get up at 0500 (still do, to watch the morning news) to make Parkerhouse rolls on Sundays.

Because making bread was an all-day project back then, and I wanted it done asap. But the end result is like heaven!! Warm sweet dinner rolls brushed with butter Mmmmmm, so good!!!

Thank you, Mama. I got up at 0430, due to falling asleep at 9pm while watching tv in the bedroom. At least I wasn't in the evil recliner all night.:yum:

Made another batch of blueberry muffins today.

This time, I tweaked the recipe a little bit by adding an additional egg, increasing the milk to 1 whole cup and increasing the oil to 1/3 cup. Also, I lowered the oven temp to 400 degrees.

These are softer, but even though they feel a little heavier, the sides and bottoms are lighter and the muffins themselves are softer in texture and touch.

I just wasn't satisfied with the first batch, as it seemed tough and a bit hard. So I made some slight modifications to the recipe.

I made a peach pie and a icebox strawberry pie today. Both are cooling. 4 hours in the fridge and I'll be able to top the strawberry pie with whipped cream.:piesmiley1:

Wow, you guys astound me!

I am so envious!

Joe, that picture of the slice of bread and butter made me swoon!

Sherm, I absolutely adore blueberry muffins, and yours look mouth-wateringly delicious!

Mama, I have never had either a peach pie or a strawberry pie! Yours look like works of eatable art!

I am going to have to check out this thread more often!

Lee, the bread an butter pic was Mama's picture and her bread. Just shows how far she has come so quickly.:chef:

Thanks Lee and Joe!

I need to make some bread. That last batch didn't last very long

I'm really looking forward to trying the strawberry pie tomorrow. It's the one I posted last week from Cook's Country. It's supposed to be like the one they used to serve at Shoney's/Big Boy restaurants but without the aftertaste. I guess we'll see.

Oh, thanks for the correction, Joe!

Well, your early morning loaves would be history if I was there!

Mama, I might have to move in with you. :-)

I made some hamburger buns using my potato bread recipe.

Well, instead of making 8 buns, I probably should have made 12 but they were/are really good. The potato bread makes excellent hot dog and burger buns.

Have you posted the recipe?

(If this job works out, it is temp so when it gets slow people get laid off,I am thinking of getting a larger, newer bread maker)

Here it is Peepers: http://www.zojirushi.com/products/bbpac

Mine quit a while back. I was looking at the newest Zojirushi. It's got a heating element in the lid for even browning unlike the old one. It's a little pricey but will probably last for a long time. It's got a lot of nice features. I really like the quick bread feature that allows you to have a loaf of bread 2 hours after you put the stuff in the machine. The delayed bake is nice as is the horizontal loaf.

I've made bread twice using my KA and it's worked out well. I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I want to invest in another bread maker.
