Movies You Watched

Night of the Living Dead (1968).

Went to bed, but wasn't sleepy yet, so I turned on the tv. George Romero's finest effort had just started, and hosted by none other than Elvira!

Bring on Halloween!

Awesome flick! I've got that in my instant queue with Netflix and watch it at least once every 2 weeks or so.

I've just been watching The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo...I've read the book, and I'm disappointed that the version I downloaded is dubbed. It's in Swedish, but I would prefer subtitles. Good movie, though. Anyone else read the book(s)? Steig Larssen wrote three in this series before he died unexpectedly...rather mysterious. Good crime stories.

I finally got around to watching The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. That was an excellent movie! Loved it. My version was subtitled, so lots of reading to do in order to keep up, but definitely worth it. Man, she really stuck it to her probation officer (Guardian) didn't she - and he deserved every second!!!! :w00t: :thumb:

The ending leaves you hanging though....makes you wonder.

Yes, the ending does leave you hanging, just like the first book. But there are three books (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked a Hornets' Nest) , and by the end of the last one, you understand everything. I don't know if two more films are planned. I hope so. Steig Larsson died unexpectedly after completing the third book, but I understand that a fourth book was nearly completed and others were outlined. The estate/family/friends are arguing over the disposition of the partially completed book and outlines. Yes, she really got her revenge...more happens to him in later books, as well. Justice prevails.

Watching The Abyss now.

Mhend - Did you ever see The Omega Man starring Charlton Heston?

I never saw it but I looked it up. I knew that I Am Legend was based on the book from the 50's but I never knew a version had already been made. I am gonna check it out. Have you seen it? Is it good?

There were actually two attempts to make I Am Legend from the book.

1. The Last Man On Earth with Vincent Price

2. Omega Man with Charlton Heston

Richard Matheson, the author of the book I Am Legend, thought both of those attempts sucked and refused to put his name on them or allow them to use the name of his book.

Matheson wasn't happy with a movie adaptation until Will Smith's version was made.

That's cool info! I've never even heard of the first one. I think the next one in my queue is Daybreakers - Ethan Hawke's newish vampire flick. For tonight, think I'm gonna start on Dexter. Gotta see what the fuss is about. :)

I own Omega Man Its a great classic movie. Check it out.

If you are going to start on Dexter start from Season one and I'm sure you'll get into it. It would be tough or impossible to keep up with if you just started watching this season (a lot of what goes on simply would not make sense).

I dropped showtime so now I have to wait to see this season of dexture. Couldn't justify 12 bucks a month just for dexter (that's all we watched on showtime).

OH DOC!! You missed the season premiere last night!! Wow so sorry.

Oh I'm watching/listening to Liar Liar

Thanks, Doc. I have season 1 in my instant watch queue on Netflix. I think it goes through season 3, then I have to have them mailed to me. And Peeps, I will check and see if that one is on Netflix too. Thanks!

A real treat for me tonight. I just got the first season of “Spartacus: Blood & Sand” on DVD! Woo-Hoo!!!

Sure. I’ve seen every episode 2, 3, or more times.

Sure. I have every episode saved off as an AVI file on the PC.

Sure. I’ve burned all those AVI files to DVD and have put those in my DVD books.

But, this is the official DVD set! Enhanced video AND the EXTRAS! Tons of extras. Extras that I’m about to dive into.

Plus, I bought the set to show my love for the Sparty series, and to enhance my store-bought DVD collection.

The DVD set packaging is interesting. I’ve not seen one like this before. It’s a 4 disc set, and the basic DVD box is constructed like a book with “pages” that you can flip through, and each 2nd page is a disc holder. Then, there is a clear outer shell that slides over the “book” to hold it all together and make it fit like any other DVD on your DVD shelf. Pretty cool.

You've definitely got a thing for whispering whiners huh?????

:yum::yum::yum::yum::yum::yum:

I've burned through all the extras....it was great. Wanted more!

Now I'm watching the Seggy episode!! :w00t:

Wow, that looks very intense, Keltin! Glad you are enjoying it...have fun!

It's a sword and sandal thing. Very good. You got through Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, so there is nothing in Sparty that would offend. It's brutish but poetic and romantic at the same time. You ought to try it!

:yum::yum: Crixy can do no wrong in my eyes - whispering, whining, it's all good!

Ole Seggy. LMAO!

Karen - I will warn you that it is extremely addictive, but oh so worth it! :)

Just watched Surrogates with Bruce Willis. Where did this movie come from, and how did I miss it? It was out in 2009, and I just caught it last night on Roku. What a trip! It so personifies the internet and takes the net culture to the next level. Is that where we're heading???? :w00t:

Just watched Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (I love Bobby and Paul in that movie!!)

"Think ya used enough dynamite there Butch?"

Saturday Night Fever

It's been so long that I had totally forgotten the story line. Makes me glad I wasn't raised in NY. Travolta is the dance king, or at least he was in his skinny days.

Edit: The ending was really poor. I don't think I'll watch the sequel, Sunday Night Fever, when it comes out....

I caught some of The Right Stuff the other day. I love that movie!!

If we ever get a chance to sit and chat some day I'll be happy to tell you all about the hype behind certain pilot "heroes".

There are old pilots and there are bold pilots. There are no old bold pilots (except for the BS old bold pilots).

I would love that!1

I do like The Right Stuff, though - such a grand and epic movie. And Keltin, I've never heard of that Bruce Willis movie (Surrogates), either. I'll have to try and find it. We just fed Milo his last meal of the day and it's almost time for bed.

I watched this movie a few months ago on cable. It was pretty good. I also missed it when it was new. Was it in the theaters or released to DVD?
