Did you know?

How long eggs last in the fridge.

I don't eat eggs, except pickled, and my only other useage is for coatings/breading... so I'm always throwing out half-dozens ... Mom once told me that if a raw egg floats, it's too far gone... Wish I could by half-dozens ...
Little mom and pop stores used to let you break a box in half and buy 6. Which was great when I was first on my own.

Because it's too dangerous to retrieve the dead bodies that litter the slopes of Mount Everest, most climbers remain right where they fell while trying to summit Earth's tallest peak.

The top portion of the mountain, roughly everything above 26,000 feet, is known as the “death zone.”

There, the oxygen levels are only at a third of what they are at sea level, and the barometric pressure causes weight to feel ten times heavier. The combination of the two makes climbers feel sluggish, disoriented and fatigued and can cause extreme distress on organs. For this reason, climbers don’t usually last more than 48 hours in this area.

To date, it’s estimated that some 300 people have died climbing Earth’s tallest mountain and that there are approximately 200 dead bodies on Mount Everest to this day. The living pass the frozen, preserved dead along Everest’s routes so often that many bodies have earned nicknames and serve as trail markers..

60 percent of the large mammals on Earth are livestock (predominantly cattle and pigs), 36 percent are humans, and just four percent of the living large mammals on the planet are wild animals.

Early Olympic Events .......

Pigeon shooting was an event in 1900. Fortunately this shooting event was short lived. It was the only time animals were killed on purpose during an Olympic event.

At the 1908 Olympic Games, there was a demonstration of a new sport of dueling pistols, in which two heavily protected competitors faced off and shot wax bullets at each other.

Did you know?

The April full moon is known as the Pink Moon.

April comes from the Latin word 'aperire' meaning 'to open'.

The Field Record Book

Pigeon shooting is still done in a few countries. It’s outlawed in the U.S., but still done clandestinely, by invitation, with extremely high entry fee, and big payouts.

I had to look up this guy that jumped out of a plane. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_Alkemade#:~:text=Because his parachute had caught, snow cover on the ground.

His parachute caught on fire and wouldn't work. His fall was broken by pine trees and soft snow ...(but still! Geez!)

When I was in my teens I sometimes woke up at night seeing me falling from heights. I had 2 kinds of dreams those days. One is that I was flying over jungles, the other was falling from cliffs.
I wonder where my dreams have gone. lol.
