What are you doing today?

Just got back from doctor visit. It's really blurry and had a tiny leak. I have a contact lens in to hopefully stop that. I go back Monday to take the contact out. I may have to get glasses but it's a wait and see... pun intended. I had afib during surgery so nothing has changed there. I see cardiology on the 20th.

John, I still wear glasses after my surgery. I need them to read, but I also have a bit of astigmatism. I don't need them to see or drive, but after wearing corrective lenses for 60 years, I see the weakness from the astigmatism when I don't wear them.

i also hated putting reading glasses on and off all day. Even though my doctor told me I didn't need them, I ordered progressives. wearing glasses is not the worst outcome of cataract surgery. Be confident that they can resolve the leak.

Is your left eye still great?

Yes, left eye is much better.

Nancy posted this to facebook…

Our Granddaughter Amelia McCarthy’s other Grandfather father, Kevin McCarthy, died today after a brief illness. Kevin was the best possible grandfather who played with Amelia, traveled with Amelia, and found great joy himself when he made Amelia happy. While he could be downright silly with AJ to keep her smiling but he was knowledgeable, always put his family first in his long list of responsibilities, a tireless worker and not one to stand on ceremony. He served in and retired from the Coast Guard, worked at Boeing for many years, had strong religious ties, loved boating, and most recently helped his son herd goats. What a man! I am so glad to have known him and grieved at his death. My heart goes out to all of his family and friends. Rest in Peace, Kevin.

Rain started.
Today I was on the phone for hours, trying to help some family problem of a friend. Long story short, their daughter's boyfriend's mother has cheated them around 5000USD worth of local money. The affair is no more, and they want to settle it outside police and courts. They want me to go with them to the boy's house to discuss. I only got to know about the whole thing today only, so I am not going to speak anything. I'll just go with them, and hopefully there won't be any fight.

Meanwhile all the doctors are on strike today over a rape incident against a female doctor. Although the culprit, a convicted criminal out on bail, has already been arrested they are still on strike. I am not sure what they are trying to achieve. My mother's retina surgery is on the 16th, and hoping it won't be affected.

Good luck with both issues, Indike!

Thanks Lee, doctors have resumed work but it was heartbreaking that people had to turn back yesterday from hospitals and go back home after travelling many miles on buses.
We didn't go to the boy's house today because they said they want to wait another month. I smell like those gold diggers have lures these people back in to the trap. There's only so much I can tell them, especially about their family matters. So I said alright, nonchalantly. Lol.

Women are being violently attacked and raped and killed by men whose culture tells them they are entitled. The numbers are escalating, especially on the sub-continent. They are afraid for their safety and their lives.

They are trying to get their governments (mostly run by men) to step up and stop the violence against women.

These doctors consider themselves entitled. That's the reason why they continued the strike. IF they were doing it to demand a safer culture they would have done it when another woman was subjected to something, but no, just a week earlier, their convenor said that they strike because they don't want to be treated as normal people. They strike for everything, for salary hikes, even for an extra holiday. They strike if they are asked to punch in the work times. They want to be special and privileged and entitled. If it is about the rape then this could be the only such incident in the history. I don't know but never heard anything similar. And they have never done any protest in the slightest for anything that happened to a common person in the society.

Most importantly, Sri Lanka is a different country, and it's very much different from India. There's no rape culture in Sri Lanka. There may be an occasional incident, just as anywhere else but not like in some other countries. :) And that isolated incident should not be considered as culture. For example when I read about the rape and murder of Jessica Lunsford I never considered it the American culture. Instead I still believe that America has a very civilized culture, just like mine, but the occasional criminal may exist, and should be brought to justice, just like what happened in the case of this doctor.

True, there was a male first culture almost everywhere in the world. But we have come a long way along civilization.

Since it's in the upper 70s, I'm considering another walk today.
I'll ask April if she wants to join me for a late stroll down through the park.
It's very gusty here in Ohio because we have possible? BAD storms on the way tomorrow.
The predictions are all over the place, but so far it's looking like the far Northern corner of my area may dodge the worst of it.

This morning is Kevin’s funeral then Nancy and I are going to Wally’s for a late lunch. There is supposed to be food at the funeral home, as well. We don’t plan to stay long.
Kevin had a good turnout for his funeral. The Coast Guard did a nice bit, as well. The flag on his coffin was flown over the Coast Guard station and certified as such. The girls had a nice buffet of sandwiches, charcuterie type items, and gourmet cookies for after. There was so much food we didnt go out to eat.

We drove up to LaConnor to quilt museum - traffic was horrid to the I 90 then was good the rest of drive to I-5. We got to museum an hour before opening so drove to Anacortes to a fabric shop. The town smelled of alder smoke so someone was cooking and smoking salmon. I’d never been there so it was a nice drive through. Nancy is in museum then we are going to the pub for lunch. The drive home will be bad, i imagine.

Last night I was being amused by my son Ty, in pursuit of a coyote on their property.
He was sending me live video from his phone.
It was pacing, running in circles and whining.
When it tried to approach him, I started screaming and told him that damn thing is RABID!
He finally got out the 22 and shot it to put it out of it's misery.
Then drug it out beyond the pond, near the woods and burned it. 😵‍💫

Today I did a bit of grocery shopping, then contacted one of my nurse aides to tell her there is an apartment available where I live.
She made inquiries to our lovely Landlady Rose.
She's moving in this week. 🙂
