What are you doing today?

Had a fabulous time in Detroit.
Didn't get home until around 12:45.
We all said we should have gone even earlier, because there was so much more to explore.
I took quite a few pictures and videos, some of which are posted on Facebook or our private family group.
I'm not doing anything today lol

Thanks everyone. We're selfishly hoping it veers north or south. But that would just be devastating for others. As of the 5:00 update, it will be a Cat 3 major, straight up Tampa Bay. Directly up tampa bay would be devasting. The near south east side would be even worse. We have a couple days to watch. Winds should start arriving on Tuesday, with landfall on Wednesday.

I've already arranged to have someone install our hurricane shutters on Monday. Judy can no longer help me and I can't do it myself, so I just arranged to get it done.

Tomorrow we will top off the tank on the other car. I have 4 propane tanks; I need to check them. I need to get gas for the generator and check it. It's not enough to power the whole house with a/c, but it can keep my freezer and fridge from thawing. And it can charge cell phones. I have 2 cases of water for drinking, but I need to fill bathtub etc for washing and flushing.

Today we washed all the bathroom rugs and dog bedding. We have 2 days to make sure all of our laundry is done and our linens are freshly changed. Nothing is worse when the air conditioning is out, and the humidity is high, than the smell of laundry stinking. Same for cleaning bathrooms and kitchens. Everything has to start clean. If you lose power for a couple days, you has to live with the mess you started with, plus the new mess.

Checking flashlight, batteries, candles. We are so sick of the drill. We have been talking about moving away, but now I think it will be tough to sell the house. We shall see.

Got the shutters up today. Topped off the tanks. Got gas for the generator. Have 5 cases of bottled water. Went to the bank for cash.
The winds are currently at 170 mph, which is beyond Cat 5. The mayor of Tampa called it a Cat 6. Talking about getting out of town, but the roads are jammed and there is no gas to be had anywhere.

If we decide to leave, it would have to be tonight.

Be careful.
Our Chief Meteorologist Chris Vickers from Toledo got sent to Florida to cover the hurricane.
He's mind blown.
If I were you, I'd get the hell outta Dodge.

Kathy are you and Judy going to stay and ride it out??? 😨
I had a friend from Delphos, who moved to the Tampa area. She lived there for 10 years, got fed up with the hurricanes.
She now lives in Fostoria.

No. We just finished the last minute tasks to secure the house. Gave my neighbors a key. We are leaving within the hour to head to my neice's in Fort Lauderdale.

Finished my tour a few days ago.
The van had a little accident and the front fake bumper broke. The van owner didn't want to take it out of the insurance claim. I had to pay it since I used my own driver. However the guests gave me money for the repair despite my strong protests. Thanks to that I was saved without any loss. And they are still messaging me if everything is alright. Good Samaritans.
I can spend some time on the internet again. lol.

Wise move, Kathy! But your neighbors are staying??? Geez!

Indike, you must have done a great job! Sounds as if your guests are very fond of you! Congrats!

Looks like I'll be working both tomorrow night and Saturday.
Didn't really want to do back to back shifts because they absolutely knock me down, but I'll do it - because I'm needed, now that they've fired two nurses over stupid piddly things.
I swear 😐
I'm going to miss my Chloe 😭

Today I’m driving home. Should me there in about 4 hours. My neighbor hooked up my generator to the fridge for me, so I don’t lose the frozen food. The neighbors say we have power back on. The men in both sides of us powered up the saws and took care of our downed tree limbs for us. And we’ll be home before supper.

We live in such a great community! It’s comforting to have such wonderful neighbors.

You have good neighbors. I’m glad you are safe.

My wife has an appointment this morning then we will go to ocean for cranberries and oysters. Hopefully I will get some fish and chips.

I'm back on finally!!
Thank you Doc, Lee and Kathy.
Got locked out of my other phone yesterday and had to buy a new one.
Took it to the Verizon here in Napoleon, they couldn't do anything without me having a password to unlock it.
Went to another place in Wauseon, same thing. Ended up going to the Verizon store in Wauseon and bought a new Samsung Galaxy S24.
Had to make a new Facebook profile also, so some of you already know yes, that's me.
I did not get hacked.

I've finally been able to set up this new phone the way I need it to be.
It's been a pain!
I was more concerned about being able to get on personal apps related to banking, payroll, finances..etc.
Getting locked out of devices is a scary thing.

That said, the new profile I had to make on Facebook was the worst!
Lots of friends and even some family members thought I was hacked.
Not the case.
I'm still waiting on the other 67 people to accept my friendship request.
Was talking to a former in-law last night.
I told her yes, that's me.

I think we rely too much on social media to do the daily "thing".
