My father was an expert at cracking hickory nuts. I miss a hickory nut cake.

one of my treasures was a split half of an iron maul head I found squirrel hunting when I was in high school. He used that as a nutter. When they broke up the house it must have gotten thrown out. My wife says I should write this stuff down.

Well, they did mostly for me too, but my grandparents owned a farm and it was fun doing those things with my cousins when we were little and visiting.
