I've had mine for maybe 10-12 years and have not really loved it. I've used it mainly for thin-slicing cukes for salads and slicing many onions for soup and it's done okay.
Today I cut my index finger, then thumb when I just got started with the onions (yeah, I know, but the guard is more trouble than it's worth and I never use it). So, I'm thinking the blades aren't sharp anymore, that's why my onions got stuck and my hand slipped. I don't suppose the blades can be sharpened?
Do any of you have a mandoline that you love? What's the brand? I don't need fancy attachments or other bells and whistles, just a good, simple, SAFE slicer.
