Re: New From Texas

lilbopeep, I have heard some horrible things with the catholic schools from many years ago but like you said, they are not allowed any thing like that anymore. A matter of fact, we are such a small town school that there are no nuns even in this school, only certified teachers. Heard some horror stories though about those nuns...lol...Buckytom, you are right about paying thru the nose! Not cheap at all. Now guess ours is a little different about attendance, tithing, etc...if you put all my 3 children together, they hadn't made the 75% attendance in quite awhile. I'd have a yardstick over someones head if they ever thought about using on one of mine...lol...

our school had 2 classes for each grade - 1 had a nun for a teacher and the other had a lay teacher. they divided up the subjects and it seemed like we had religious ed every other class!! i got a thick hard cover math book on my head (3 smacks!!) because i was out sick from school with a strep throat and didn't know how to do a math problem!! i was in 2nd grade. my mom came down to the school a told mother that if i was ever touched again she would have the nun arrested!!

Re: New From Texas

Hi Meme-
From San Francisco Bay Area-

I remember the nuns grabbing me by my ear during
Cathechism- and dragging me down the hall to the kindergarten class.
Ouch.
"I laughed real hard cause my friend said he wanted to be a priest"

I actually live in the small town of El Campo, between Houston and Victoria. It is about a little over an hour drive from you there in SA.

oooh I think I went there, on the way to Corpus Christi, when my hubby was working in Houston, I remember the name
