What's on the menu Sunday, 8/15/2021 to Saturday, 8/21/2021?

Ok went on a small food run to Lidl (new to me store) and hit the wonderful German bakery (crumb cake and seeded rye) in the town where I grew up. Good prices at Lidl. Hope the food taste good. Eggs 18 ct. ¢70, butter $1.50/lb. Got some other things at good prices.

Brunch - Lidl brand Potato and onion Pierogies (with sour cream and apple sauce. I split the plate with DD) and a piece of crumb cake from the German Bakery.

Cash and Carry changed hands a second time to be bought by U.S. Foods. U.S. Foods who is my son deals with at the restaurants.

Tonight we are going to our friend’s house for steaks, baked potato, etc.
We used to have a Cash and Carry that we would shop at (discount prices on "damaged" goods they couldn't send to the grocery stores). Hub worked for Kraft Foods back then, and he would receive coupons from work to use there. Cash and Carry closed many years ago.

I drove by the old Cash and Carry store this evening and it is now called Chef’s Store. I saw no damaged good when I was in there a few weeks ago. The products were larger restaurant sizes. I bought a huge jar of horseradish… what was I Thinking?

On my plate was the tenderloin from the porterhouse and a cut of the ribeye. The ladies split the NY Strip and Andy took what was left over. He doesn’t grill much so I gave him instructions and kept an eye on him.

Tonight I’m grilling chicken thighs and zucchini for zucchini baba ganoush. There will also be a marinated tomato salad. The zucchini and tomatoes are from our garden beds.

The pork chops and sauerkraut have been postponed till tomorrow. Tonight will possibly be Smithfield Smoked Pork Chops - Bone-In. I hope they are good. I haven't had a good fresh smoked pork chop since Fairway Market closed. Really miss them. May have to take a trip into NYC to get so of their meat, coffee beans and loose teas.
Anyway, dinner may be smoked chops, baby spinach sautéed in the pan drippings and mashed potatoes.

Smithfield bone in smoked chops are good, Peeps. I find them a little too salty though.
I'm having leftover mac and cheese with the pea salad for lunch.
I've got a package of thin pork chops thawing.
I'll make those. Not sure of sides yet.

Thank you Sass. I’m thinking with mashed no extra salt added after boiling and greens the same the salt of the chops will be balanced. Hopefully. I tend towards dehydration so salt isn’t to bad for me. Lol

I rarely use the salt shaker I have, but do use Morton Seasoning blend that does have a little in it.
