What are you doing today?

My friend and neighbour, Pat - is moving out right now.
I've known she's moving out to the family farm since she inherited the house itself.
Her brother will be taking over the out buildings for personal storage and will continue farming the 10 acres.
I'm sure going to miss her.
We're staying in touch.
The new lady moving in is around my age.
I've been told she's a very nice person.
😊

Took a quick snap. Lol
Sure is a hot, muggy day to be moving.

Awwww, a sad day for you, Lora! I hope you and the new neighbor hit it off right away! Let her be a foodie!!

Lee
I'll soon find out if she's a foodie lol
We're going to hit it off, I refuse to have anything happen otherwise.

Quiet neighbourhood , no riff-raff allowed.
If there is an opening for one of our apartments, it's usually by word of mouth.
I've gotten April, Laurie and Marah - all co-workers a place to live here.
My landlords have very much appreciated that.

Welllll, I'm getting a potential new neighbour.
Thing is, this woman is one of the "society" members in the county.
She's used to having the best OF the best. 🙄

I spoke with our building managers and landlord today.
They said she did nothing but complain about everything in the apartment.

●Didn't like the lazy susan in the one cupboard.
●Didn't like where the refrigerator has to be.
●Said she wants the bedroom carpet replaced and the living room walls painted blue.
She was told the apartment was on a waiting list, and to look elsewhere if she wasn't going to be happy.

These apartments are nice!
Maybe she needs to find a room at the Ritz-Carlton 😂

There’s just no pleasing some people….🤷🏼‍♀️

I took my Granddaughters to Meijer this morning to buy them new clothes and shoes and whatever else they need for starting school.
Since they are going to a private school, they can dress casual on Fridays.
Paying for their private school vs public was very important to me.
Ty and Felicia were very thankful for the help.
Nana is always there for them.

They are very blessed to have you as their Nana 🥰

I'm sitting here, wondering why my local stores carry only 2 sizes of Russet taters. They carry the teeny-tiny ones that are hardly worth the bother. Idaho rejects, no doubt. Then there are the super-duper, extra-large taters that would probably feed a family of 4 with one potato! 😕

WinCo usually has a medium size as did Safeway last time I bought them.

Washington produces more potatoes than Idaho, although they produce more Russets whereas Washington grows more of the red, yellow and purple ☺️

We enjoy the Washington Grown TV show. Love the opening with "Washington Po-Ta-Toes"... ;)

The last bag of Russets I bought at Winco turned out to be tiny. Sigh. So, I bought another bag from Costco. Huge!! But, today, I discovered they do make lovely twice baked taters, once they are baked & cut in half! I made a batch so there's some for tonight & more for the freezer.

Yep! For low carb potatoes, stick to yellow, red and purple.....in moderation!
For us, potatoes are an "occasional" food. If I make certain dishes that really need them, I make them. German potato salad with schnitzel and red cabbage. Braised shortribs over mashed potatoes. Steak with a small (half) baked potato. But in general, they are not my go-to vegetable. They are a simple carb that turns to sugar in your bloodstream. Not a particularly good choice for those of us who are over 50 or 60. (In my case waaaay over).

I really don't want to spend the rest of my life on medication for diabetes, cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc. If simple concessions in diet can keep us healthier, I'm all in.

My choice potato are sweet potatoes.
I'll admit I make instants for a comfort meal occasionally.
And frozen fries.
And what you said bolded.
In spades.

Today I've been pretty busy.
Running here and there.
Went to see the Grandies again earlier today.
Went to work and spoke with our scheduler to tell her I won't be picking up any shifts again until next week.
I've not had a solid entire weekend off for a long time.
So I dropped tomorrow night, and gave the shift to Carmen.
She needs the money more than I do.

Me, too. Potatoes, bread, pasta and rice are rare treats for me nowadays.

I bought a bicycle today! I was poking around on Facebook, and a marketplace ad popped up for a bike for $100. I asked about it and it turned out to be my neighbor around the corner. She said since i know you. I'll drop to $80. I walked around the corner and pedalled my ass home.

My sentiments exactly! 😊
