What are you doing today?

Just general housework plus some knitting and sewing. Might get some reading in also. We've got a mild Santa Anna wind blowing. That will get the allergies going.

Got up early and fried up 20 slices of bacon. Washed up the dishes and cleaned the kitchen and dining room table. It seems to have a magnet for mail and newspapers since we only use 2 seats most of the time. Went down to get the Amish boys while she mixed up pancake batter. They each had 5 slices of bacon, toast, 2 large brown eggs and a bunch of pancakes. I was frying eggs while she worked pancakes on the center griddle. Then we went and tore into the rest of the woodpile. That is a real good start on this years wood but I need at least 2 more tri-axel loads to be sure I have enough till next spring. I am too wore out to finish up my poor truck. Just need to splice the fuel line and it should be ready to roll. When I cut the old one on Thursday I got a face, neck and ear bath with gas. Pissed me off so I threw some kitty litter on the puddle and went in for a shower.

Forgot I also had to fix the rope start on the log splitter. Told the 16 yr. old boy he did not need 2 hands and a great big yank to start it. LOL Since I put electronic ignition in it starts on one or 2 pulls every time.

I am making a huge pot of spaghetti sauce from home grown tomatoes today. DH came home with 8 cartons of red raspberries so they will become a fresh raspberry pie. Sides will be garlic toast and a salad using my home grown lettuce and tomatoes, etc. :cooking:

Dang, MM, that's a woodpile. You have to be the hardest working "retired" person I know.

I found a cover for my dryer vent at Lowe's...no more Pepe

! Cheap, easy to install, and the cover flips up for easy cleaning...win-win.

Did you take the hose off and see if he ripped holes in it? You should take it off and clean the lint out. Then take a fist full outside and light it with a match. Some of the best fire starter ever. I used to have the boy scouts pack it as survival gear. Then you will understand why cleaning regularly is important. That little screen you clean when you load it only catches some of the lint. The rest builds up in the heat tube and the outlet and hose. When they catch fire that plastic hose is gone in seconds. The foil hoses are much better and don't sag and bunch up as bad. The Army banned plastic hoses in base housing years ago because of the fire risk. Anyway, Got my truck finished up today. Had to fish 100" of new brake line all the way from the front of the cab to the rear wheels and connect to the first piece I replaced. The new gas line and and splice are drip free. When I went to back it out on Sunday the minute I stomped the pedal it blew the old line about 3 " in front of the piece I had replaced. So I had to drop the gas tank and squeeze it over a few inches to guide the new one up along the frame. Better to do it now than the middle of winter when I am plowing snow.

I am the skid steer operator and splitter fixer. The 3 Amish boys did the cutting and splitting. I have a deal with their dad of things I do for his family and things his boys help me with. This morning the one boy called me up while I was frying bacon and needed a ride to the sporting goods store to replace his bow string he broke. Today is the first day of archery deer so I wolfed down the bacon and drove him to the place. This afternoon he came up and helped me break loose the one brake line. Last night I took my skid steer with the pallet forks and unloaded a trailer load of apples. 12 big boxes in the dark. Glad I have good lights front and rear. Same with my backhoe. I have 4 headlights in the front and 4 in the rear. I don't use the lights much but they sure are handy when you do need them. I will need at least twice that much wood if we have a cold winter. It takes a lot of heat for the greenhouses.

It is one of the foil hoses. I didn't even think to check for holes. Thanks for the heads-up.

Now I'm going to have to go pull that sucker out again :pat:. It seems like it weighs a ton.

We had a real bad storm last night that washed over some of my water breakers on the lane so today I had to get the little tractor out and regrade the lane. Need a load of stone but can't afford it yet. Bush hogged the corn in the garden since the dang coon is getting in and eating it anyway. At least now I can see him and take care of the problem....... Wanted to seed clover but it was mighty wet out for that. Got almost all my bush hogging done and then will disc and seed so the bees have a nice crop to work on next year.

Taking my husband to the hospital for cataract surgery. That will take most of the afternoon.

Sitting around with an icepack on my elbow. Doc lady says it is bersitis? I know it hurts enough it woke me at 2:30 in the morning and is swelled up and tender to have it on an arm of the chair or in the car. Changes my plans for a few days.

Well wishes to your husband, and tell him to rest easy!
The fun part is the eye drops regimen. Tina had the both cataracts done spaced a couple weeks apart, and I was "Drops Man!".... Two different ones, and I don't see well myself. What a time I had getting those drops in the eye's. I was like 2 for the cheek, and 1 for the eye.

Anyway... take care, and speedy recovery for him!

Gee... I wonder if crawling under the truck had anything to do with it?
Feel better! ... Drink water for the bursitis. It lubes the joints.
I just finished up doing a power steering pump ... window washer pump, and oil change on a friends Chevy Trail Blazer I think they call it.
I know tomorrow, all those twisted moves and stretching to get at the fasteners will have me crippled tomorrow. hahahahahaha....

Feel better Mountain Man.....

I did have a lot of pain from resting my weight on that elbow while fishing the new brake line through the frame openings. It hurt so bad I hollered for the wife to throw me something to cushion it with. Used her old barn sweater for a pillow to rest it on. It was the only way I could reach across the gas tank to tighten the fittings. Put some linament from the Amish herb lady on it and it feels a little better. Did ice packs off and on every 1/2 hour for about 3 hours before that.

Info has surfaced that there is a storm headed this way up the Eastern Seaboard that is supposed to be as strong, powerful and destructive as Hurricane Sandy was about this time last fall!

Well after putting the Amish herb lady's linament on the elbow and drinking some of her comfort mix it don't hurt near as much. Went to the pharmacy for some scripts and the price made me tell them I did not need the cream. Pharmacist said it was basically a topical motrin. She gave me 2 boxes of aleve samples and will try them. It is still swollen but not as warm and not hurting near as bad as yesterday. We swapped the Amish girl some of our herbs and a bottle of olive oil she needed for her potions. Stopped at the farm store and got the last load of feed I should need as the cows go to the butcher in less than 3 weeks. It has warmed up to 65 and sun is shining bright. Was 34 and frosty this morning.

The cataract was a large one. Husbands eye hurt afterwards and his vision was foggy. Saw the surgeon again today. We were told that all is normal except for the pressure in his eye. It was up to 40. Doc took sharp and pierced the eye to allow liquid to escape. That hurt like a son of a b. However that took the pressure down to 12.

We went to breakfast afterwards and I made the mistake of loaning him my reading glasses. He has discovered that they work beautifully for him. I don't know when I'll get them back. Sigh

I probably have 10 pairs of readers stashed in various places. Get you some of those girly readers, Leni, and I'll bet you he won't want to borrow those  .

That won't work. He'll make a huge joke of it with anyone who shows up and sees them. He's discovered that my computer glasses also work for him. I'll be glad when his vision stablizes and he can get his own pair of readers. It's really strange to see him without glasses. He's worn them forever.

I'm back! Paul has been working 7 days a week 12 hours a day so.... haven't been cooking much at all. He'll be here for dinner tonight so I made mousaka.
