Thursday, 10/29 Dinner Time

I am going to be spending some time with my son and DIL later today.
Going to make dinner for them ..I've yet to decide what!
Ty loves sausage chili and corn bread, fried fish, t-bone steaks..
I'll probably ask them specifically what they want me to make them for dinner.

Why don't you whip up some of your country fried steak for them, Sass.

I don't know what I'm having yet. Looks like the pork butt I took out a couple days ago won't be completely thawed until tomorrow. That pretty much left today's plans up in the air.

Would you come over to Mentor and cook for me and DW sometime? We like other people's meals. I'll even invite Barb & DH to join us.Pleeeeeeeeeeeze? I'll make fresh bread, just tell me what kind to make.

I haven't decided whether I'm making ham & scalloped potatoes or chicken with fennel & shallot braised in Reisling.

Since it's already 3:00, I had better decide soon.

We have skirt steak marinated in soy, garlic, ginger and red wine vinegar all day. Also on the menu is my mushroom topping, mashed potatoes with garlic butter and sour cream as well as steamed broccoli with onions and garlic butter.

My wife cooked tonight but I made the appetizer ................

What do you pay for skirt steak? It's always expensive up here........ How did you end up cooking it? Grill???

I'm not real sure but I'm thinking about $5.75 per lbs, this was about 1.5 lbs. I simply did it in a cast iron fry pan but had it marinating since early this morning. It turned out pretty good too with a little left over for a steak and cheese sandwich tomorrow for lunch.

i stuffed a breast of veal and trussed it up good. but i am going to have a problem when it is done cooking. i asked the hub to pick up the veal for me when it was on sale. i forgot to ask him to have the butcher remove the chine bone. now i have no clue how i am going to carve it. :( any ideas?

Ty had the grill going when I got there.
He made his ground herbed chicken burgers with swiss cheese, and they were good!
I made some potato salad and opened a can of Grillin' beans.
Thought ahead and took along the witch hat with kisses cookies I'd made for trick or treat, since I knew I wouldn't be back here in time to hand them out.
So that was dessert.
Paulette and Devon loved them. :)
It was nice to have a good meal with the kids and share some love.

It sounds like a wonderful time with your family Lollie........hugs to you!
It sure was!
Here I had intended to just take over and tell them all to relax, because I was going to take charge lol
Paulette (GD) had done the laundry and helped Aimee a lot with things around the house.
Devon ran out to the car and hugged me and said "Dad's making burgers on the grill."
I was like whattttt?? LOL
In the end, it all worked out just fine because we had more time to spend talking, than worrying about what was going to be made for dinner.
Hugs back hun.
Your avatar made me laugh. :D

Sass, your avatar doesn't make me laugh... :brows:

Awesome shrimp, Blues.
Very nice dinner, Peeps. That I would call comfort food (lol). And yeah, where's the stuffing?
