yins cooking?

i have this chix i thawed in my fridge to feed jake, although if he can keep himself together for a few minutes sans getting overly cranky/hungry, meatball sammiches @ the local pub. i'll ring her to pre-order.
the chix was frozen; she'll last another day, i think. & if not, there's 2 other packs of chix.
chix could be lunch, then the pub-grub 4 dinner. we'll see how this one goes, huh. so rhetorical.
anyhoo, let's see or hear of them beautiful meals, gals & guys!

My girl has this week off so she wants to celebrate her birthday early and go to Olive Garden for lunch or dinner today.

Something hamburgerish. I have a bunch of fresh mushrooms, so I'm thinking a hamburger "stroganoff" on rice. With a salad.

I was thinking lamb somehow, but DW isn't a fan, so I'd have to make her some kind of pork. Shrimp crossed my mind as well since I have some in the freezer. I'm thinking there may be a way to do both......lamb/pork & shrimp. I'll continue pondering this today and see what happens.

after persistantly looking 4 the status of my new vid/cam's status & locale, she should arrive by tonite! should cook a yummy dinner that is camera-worthy later!

i gotta wrack my mental archives 4 great chix recipes! & if i get lazy, off to that bar for that oh-so-yummy pub-grub!

To cook or not to cook, that is the question.
I am beat and don't really feel like cooking today.
So.. I may just make my way to The Pit for some of their fab ribs, potato salad, pulled pork baked beans and cornbread.

Either a panini and salad..
or tacos and beans!
Unless my wife wants to go out.
:)

Well, I decided on panko crusted shrimp, french fries and cole slaw.

It's overcast and cool today so I'm getting some homemade ham and bean soup out of the refrig. I'll pick up some sourdough rounds at the store.

Mama! That meal looks beautiful!! The shrimp look so crunchy!

We had grilled london broil with mushrooms and onions, green beans and corn on the cob.

Oh wow Mama, I NEED that shrimp!! Awesome! :thumb:

And Mary, that London Broil looks PERFECT! You (on) have definitely become quite the Grill Master (off) in such a short time!! Way to go!

I finally worked my meal out, and everything is prepped. Our late eating butts are about to throw it to the fire.

Pics to come later.

Thanks Keltin! I was worried because I only had about 1/2 a chimney's worth of charcoal, but it all worked out!

Thanks Mary! Thanks Keltin! The shrimp must have been pretty good, they were colossals (11-15/lb) and DH ate over a pound all by himself :pig:

That meal looks sooooo good Mary! The meat is perfect!

I can't wait to see you dinner Keltin!

Thanks Keltin!

It's an Olympus Stylus-9000 12 Megapixels, nothing fancy. No tripod. I leave the flash set on auto. Most of the pics are taken out on the patio in natural light. It has a "cuisine" setting and I've been using both the macro and super macro settings. I think the biggest difference in my pics is the software that came loaded on this laptop. It's HP MediaSmart Photo editor. It lets you do all kinds of editing with slide bars (brightness, saturation, contrast, white balance and sharpness) so you can really get the pictures the way you want them. It's a lot of fun to play with.

made the chix-fried chix, smushed potato, gravy, succotash, & stuffing. bread & butter, too. here's ex noshing on his dinner-

Luvs, you got your camera? Congratulations - looks like a nice dinner, and that's the first time we've seen Jake in awhile. Hope he appreciated the good food! And, your red couch looks almost just like mine.

Mama, your shrimp are divine. I can almost feel the crunch when I take a bite.

And Mary - your dinner is beautiful! I love the medium rare steak and the way your green beans turned out.

We had our hamburger "glop" and it didn't look very pretty, so I think I'll not bother you with the pics. We also had Sage's mom's date cake - YUM. With home made ice cream. But those pictures didn't turn out great, either...I need to learn how to use this camera better.

Ok, done. Didn’t turn out quite as aesthetically pleasing as I expected, but the flavor and texture were outstanding. I’d definitely do this again, but next time I need to back off on the filling and try to make tighter rolls. This ended up being very tasty, but rather messy. Definitely a hands on affair as you try to keep it together and eat it.

I call this Lamb Lettuce Wraps.

Thanks Karen! Thanks Peepers!

Luvs, it looks as though Jake is thoroughly enjoying his dinner!

Keltin, those look pretty darn good to me but if you are concerned about the appearance, maybe a Boston Lettuce or Bibb lettuce with softer leaves would work better. They would also give the dish more flavor. That southern popcorn looks mighty tasty too!

Thanks Mama. Great ideas, and much appreciated!

I really liked the crunch and texture the lettuce gave this, so I'd like to see it come together 100%. I think I'll try Bibb lettuce next time. Good idea!

You know what else I was thinking just now that it's done?

Perhaps a Romaine Lettuce "boat"? Cut the Romaine lettuce in half, maybe throw it cut side down in a hot pan with a bit of oil for color and to slightly wilt. Perhaps scoop some out of the middle, then fill it with the lamb mixture and serve it "open faced" so that it could more easily be eaten with fork an knife?

Hmmm, that might work.......:WitchBrewsSmiley:
