Rants and Raves thread

Googled it for you Peeps and found this.
Years ago, I had a window unit that lasted quite some time.

No clue on how long window units should last peeps. One year seems outrageous though. So sad to see Sears turn into a 2nd class business that cannot be counted on for quality service.

Try to stay cool until next Monday, Peeps.
I know the weather here has been unbearable if outside too long.

I have a rant, but it's of a natural matter.
My son had bought 6 baby ducks at the farm store.
Intended to be pond dwellers, pets and hoping they would thrive on the property.
Well a fox, coyote or coon ripped through the screen on the large sleeping porch and took them sometime during the night.
What a thing to wake up to.

I called the store. They are out of ducklings, but have chicks.
We don't want chickens.
So I don't know what we're going to do.

My son had to tell my Granddaughter Maddie that they went to live in the woods with their new family.

They didn't.
This was early this morning when the girls were still in bed upstairs.
DIL is apparently going to Bowling Green to get other ducklings at a farm store there.
90 minute round trip for 9 Pekin ducks @ $3 a piece.
I told her THESE WILL COME INSIDE AT NIGHT TO BE IN THE BASEMENT.

I have to work this evening too.
It's never boring around here - that's for sure.

Oh, Peep, I cannot stand heat and humidity whatsoever! Can you go to a motel or hotel until you can get cool at home???

Sass, best of luck with your new ducklings!

Lee

Awww, huddled together under the lamp!

Looks as if they are well cared for!

They are.
I guess the brown ones are khaki campbells, the yellows are Pekin.
Full grown the yellows will be white, the others will be chocolate brown with spotty markings.

The ones that we lost were mallards and Pekin.

No can’t go to motel. 5 cats and other issues.

I can’t deal with heat and humidity either.

What measures are you taking to stay cool?
I know you know about keeping hydrated.
Do you have fans running?
I'd be keeping a spray bottle of water nearby and a fan blowing.
Thats what I did one time when my central air lines froze up outside one summer at my old house until the guy came and repaired it.

Best friend is one of those 20 x 20 inch box fans for $19.99 at lowes or Kmart.
Ooops.... WalMart, I meant.
We stick it in the window to draw the air out of the kitchen, and open the windows in the bed room a little. At least there is air movement.

We have central air cooling and also a split system for the bedrooms
Also, a window unit in the kitchen in case of power outage, and I can run it on generator if need be. Same with the back dining room. A window unit to augment the high loads when we have a bunch of people over to eat.

What a bunch of sweaty eaters.... hahahahahahaha

I've already got a favourite one.
The little brown with the long bill and skinny neck.
That's Kiwi.

#1 is Kiwi. If you name them one a day we’re going to have to wait over a week to hear all the new names.

Maybe you could take NCT suggestions? You would have a pool of good (and not so good) names to choose from. :whistling:

Ali named one of the yellow ones Lucy ll.
Then I've got Kiwi.
3 are going to a family members farm.
That leaves 4.

Lucy ll and Peeper taking a test swim this morning.

A little jay that fell from it's nest in one of the pines.
We left it alone.
It's gone now so I assume nature took it's course.

I have the photo&pic resizer app that I found in the Google Play Store.
It resizes in seconds.
The originals are 1500 or larger.
Taking them down 40% is the best size I think.

The trap my son has been setting for the duck loving critters.
Hehehe
So far a ground hog.
He was released.
Not sure if that nest is where little jay called home or not.

The A/C came!!! It's so cold in here. This Frigidaire A/C is great.

The true test will be on a 90F+ day. I'm happy now.
