Easter Sunday dinner!

peep, i'll bet you're spoiled with your hubby getting great meats!

dietz and watson is pricey, about double everything else offered in local supermarkets, but we only eat a big ham like that 2 or 3 times a year and only on holidays, so why not splurge. it's only about $10 to $15 dollars more. you only live once, umm, unless you're the son of god. and he was jewish, so i doubt he ever tried dietz and watson...
HUH? I wish he worked in the meat dept.. LOL He works produce.

I had a dietz years ago at a family holiday dinner. My uncle cooked it. We don't usually do ham. I did buy a smoked ham shank (Cook's I think) around november and it was great. Made wonderful spit pea soup with the bone.

Oh Peeps, you dinner looks wonderful...and the cheesecake looks PERFECT!

SS, you really outdid yourself with that pie!

Lee, how wonderful! What a great way to spend Easter!

We spent the day with DD, SIL, his mama and grandmother and his sister and her husband. It was a wonderful day. We had a huge dinner and had a corn hole tournament after dinner. We all had a great time! The trifle I made was a HUGE hit!

Thank you Mama!

That trifle looks beautiful!!

Gosh, we just finished our dinner (the chicken didn't get done when I thought it would, and we ate late) and looking at all this beautiful stuff (Sage' beautiful pie, Peeps' turkey and gravy - that asparagus! Mama's perfect trifle - yum!) makes me hungry again. Lee, thanks for sharing your Easter with us. I can tell that it was very special. BT - hope you enjoyed that ham, and the serenity that came with it. No pics tonight. I plated the dinner, then turned around, and Jerry had already whisked it off to the patio. Still some home made ice cream to come, though....

mmmm MMMMM, Karen!

I bought myself a nice trifle bowl a couple of years ago at a discount store, but I've yet to make a trifle.

That's a small goal that I can achieve this summer!

Thanks for the inspiration!

Lee

DW & I just came from Breakfast At Denny's. Good bye Biscuit's and gravy! (till I lose another 20.) But there is Easter dinner tonight + 1/2 bag of hershey's kiss's the rabbit left
Tonights dinner--- Steak-Mash Potato's-Corn-Tapioca Pudding.
Of course This could all change by the time we make the Market.

The lamb chops were perfectly medium-rare, the asparagus crunchy and tangy with lemon juice, the pan-roasted potatoes tender and delicious. Mmmm.

Oh, that's just beautiful GG!

Sorry to hear about your mom, BT but it sounds as though you had a (much needed) nice relaxing Easter.

Aren't lemon and asparagus a wonderful combination?

Mama did you post the recipe and instructions for the trifle and the recipe for the cake you used in it? I want to make this just like you did. I had to come back and look again. LOL :wow:

I'll post it on my website this week. I'll let you know when I get it posted. I'm glad you liked it.

Ahhhh, BT! I know of what you speak.

No matter how old we get, anything less from our parents besides enthusiastic support and approval can make us feel like guilty little kids again.

Then we have to knock ourselves out, trying to make it up to them and "fix it" with them.

sigh.
