Yes, yes, I know, but clean up is much more involved! Also, to be honest, I've never made really good battered fried fish. I can bread and fry it, but sometimes really like the battered styled fish like LJS or AT.

I liked Arthur Treachers better than Long John. Long drive for either one.

Somewhere on this site I have a tempura batter that works on both shrimp and fish. I used to make fried haddock or cod with it. Haven't deep fried in years, but that batter worked.
