Canning 2025

I hope I did not miss another thread for canning this year, but I didn't see it. Today, I was able to can 5 pints of Bread and Butter pickles as I was gifted some pickling cucumbers. The jar with the blue tag is a reusable canning lid that I wanted to try out. Was only willing to risk one jar as I learn how to use them. I really love canning.

I know, too much. Now she has to re process one batch due to a timing issue.

The chili sauce came out nice but I think she added too much cayenne. The canned tomatoes separated but will be fine in chili and spaghetti sauce.

Those fresh berries were beautiful! I just came back from our local farmers' market and no one had blueberries. I have been eating them on top of my protein cereals all summer. Will have to get them at the supermarket tomorrow. Bummer.

My garden is seriously winding down. I had a lot of red jalapeño peppers along with a passel of red and green sweet peppers. Using the red peppers, I made some red pepper jelly. It's only got a very small hint of heat. Then with the leftover jalapeno and sweet peppers, I made some red-green pepper jelly. It's a bit hotter. I'll be certain to save a jar or two for the holidays, but the jellies came out good!
