NCTs Iron Chef 7: Battle Chocolate

Here's my first one! I have the rest of the week to make more, don't I?

This is a flourless chocolate cake with a white chocolate truffle filling, and a chocolate ganache covering. It's decorated in melted white chocolate.

 Now, that's what I call kickin' off the Iron Chef Battle Chocoloate with a bang. Will you tell us how you did the swirly on the top? And yes, you have until Sunday. Bring on some more.

Mix a little oil with some melted white chocolate. Pipe 3 stripes down the center of the cake. Using a toothpick, make figures "8"'s right through all 3 lines.

Work quickly before the chocolate sets up. The oil buys you a little time, but not much.

looks awesome SS... your oil tip is a great one... another tip when working with chocolate is when you are melting the chocolate and you want a very nice shine to it, add a little bit of vegetable shortening to it

Oh........my.........

I'm speechless! That is amazing and absolutely beautiful! How did you do that white design on top! Simply incredible!! Way to set the bar super high for this one!!

I was just flitting around out in the ether and someone mentioned bacon with dark chocolate.

Even saw a rub with chocolate and chipotle...but that's not all that new.

I've got a couple of ideas...

Anyone else leaning towards savoury??

I'm going savoury. I'm not much of a baker or dessert maker, so that's the route I'll take.

Um...SilverSage....I have this amazing Banfi semi brut that has been dying to be let out of the bottle. If I bring the bottle, can I please have a slice of that?? See, I have PMS mixed with a touch of menopause and I really need that cake. Just give it to me and no one will get hurt... Your presentation is a work of art.

Hey Keltin
Thought you were going to post all the pictures of each challenge into one concise thread when the challenge was over....

I did! Just checked, and they're all there as "RESULTS - NCTs Iron Chef.......".

Did I miss a pic in one of them?

I must have missed it in 'new posts'....that's because I'm too busy looking around for dropped wallets, I suppose. Forget I mentioned it.....:blush:

It's a perfect menopause cake, and I'll bet the Banfi would really go with it. And I really don't want to get hurt! I'll save you a slice.

Thanks everyone.

I figured you were heading for chocolate bacon!!

Had to do it first sense I also wanted to take those bread rollups to the French Toast level. Seemed the best way. And Lisa (DW) said add strawberries, so there we are!

It was good, but if you use semi-sweet, add white or even brown sugar to knock out the bitter cocoa after taste. Or better yet, just get sweet if they make it. I added a touch of vanilla to one batch, and it asn't bad....interesting to say the least!
