I sorta know how we all eat pretty much as members of this forum.
I've been vegan/vegetarian during a large part of my life.
While I was married to my first husband, I cooked meals to feed him, myself and my boys as they were growing.
I was sometimes 40 lbs overweight during those years.
After Steve and I were married and after that, I became a full blown vegetarian, then vegan.
That was never difficult for me during those years.
So when I first joined this forum I was a vegetarian.

Fast-forward to now.
I've struggled with both healthly and probably not so healthy eating, but feel like the time has come for just being smart.
I've been damn near struggling with anorexia because of stress and had the guts to post pics of myself looking gaunt.
Thank goodness that has past.

No real health issues at present.
I'm not overweight, however as aging progresses, I do get concerned.
There are a billion diets and tons of advice out there to help you feel younger and be the picture of health.

I'm hoping I eventually settle into a pattern of eating that's life long and doable.

Reply if you feel comfortable doing so.

I LOVE FOOD! Lol. I’ve always been a big guy working outside construction all my life, so I can cheat once in awhile with extra calories. Covid was a bitch - stay inside and cook… oink. I’m loosing that weight now, while still going out in search of the ultimate pizzeria.
I know a few folks that said they would rather “eat what they enjoy” and sacrifice a few years of their life. They did.
If I got back to walking a few miles a day and lifting again, I could maintain a healthy weight and enjoy a few good/cheat days. McDonald’s is the devil 👿😂

I love food too, Mark.
Especially delicious fattening high carb food.
Always have.
Covid wasn't a problem for me because I was working 12 hr shifts then and constantly on the go and full of worry.
If it wasn't for my daily 2x a day walking routine (weather permitting) and going to swim and walk the track at the Y, I'd probably gain now that I'm mostly in the retirement part of my life.

I've struggled with weight all of my life. From high school, through age 40, my weight was wonderful, but I pretty much lived on black coffee and cigarettes, and an apple for lunch. Then I quit smoking.

I've always felt guilty about eating "bad" stuff and rarely do. I almost never eat sweets or fried foods or junk food, and I'm still 50 pounds fatter than I want to be. I walk 3 miles a day and watch every carb that goes into my mouth.

I love food, too, but I've lived a life of self-denial and continue to.

I am amazed at people who just eat whatever they want to, whenever they want to, damn the torpedoes.

Lee, I've never thought of you as one who struggles with weight.
From the pictures I've seen of you and knowing how you eat, I think you look healthy and fabulous.
I do know you dislike the evil carbs.
That's probably what I should be most concerned about, but fortunately I burn them fast.
My off list is ice cream, desserts and sweets because I can take take them or leave them.
The last sweet I had was my soon to be DILs cheesecake.
If I see anything like that in the stores, I don't even think about buying them now.

I've lost 5 lbs.
Since I agreed to eat differently to support Jules.
She's been full blown on a weight loss regimen and has lost 41 lbs.
At first it was this or that diet.
First she was eating cabbage soup and nothing but for both lunches and dinner for a week, then she went on an egg diet.
I told her you have to follow a particular eating plan.
No fads. You need solid nutrition and some caloric content in order to burn calories.
She finally caught on lol
