What's for dinner tonight, Saturday??

By special request, tonight's dinner is a porterhouse steak with a baked potato.

Not my favorite by any stretch of the imagination, just a big hunk of red meat and carb on a plate, but since it's a birthday request, I'll oblige.

Oh - and leftover birthday cake from the get-together last night.
SilverSage-I am sorry I missed your birthday- I wish you the best always. Looks like you had a great time!/B]

This weekend is our Canal Days Festival (celebrating the Miami/Erie Canal being a big part- running through this tiny one horse town-it's been going on for years and years).

Anyway, we nurses were a bit stumped when it came to "what are we going to eat for supper tonight?" The menu looked crappy, no one had the time to run out for fast food.
Thank GOD Marta from Occupational Therapy walked up to the desk and said, "Alright, I am running downtown to get food. Who's in?"
You've never seen such a mad scramble- the entire staff on the unit digging in their purses for dough to give to Marta to bring back pure American fair/festival junk food! LOL

I wanted an Italian sausage with peppers and onions and that sauce, as well as a funnel cake. I ate like a pig and had a wonderful shift at work.

Ain't it nice when good food and work makes you happy? lol

Dan, Dan, Dan .... if it looked anything like this, it's Boston Cream PIE!

we had breakfast for dinner also last night but yours looks beautiful!! whats in the casserole?

Thanks Peeps! Basically, it's frozen hashbrowns, covered with 2 cups of grated cheddar cheese and a couple of green onions, topped with a thin sausage gravy (1 pound sausage (browned), 3 tablespoons of flour cooked with the sausage a few minutes, 3 cups of milk, salt and pepper). I then topped it with another cup of shredded cheddar and 2 more green onions. Baked at 350 for 45 minutes.

that sounds so yummy!! for some reason i thought i saw bacon in there.

No bacon...just well browned sausage. You could certainly use bacon though.

DH came down here to the coast and fixed the broken pipe so I had water today. I rewarded him by making a huge pot of tomato basil soup and french bread. It was absolutely delicious and all the neighbors came for soup, too, and there isn't a drop left! I'm on top of the world!
