What's for dinner, Sunday July 19, 2009?

JoeV

Dough Boy
I have a chicken and a couple extra hind quarters in a brine since late yesterday. Gonna do them on the smoker later when DD and future SIL come over to do the seating chart for the wedding. I made redskin potato salad last night that is in the fridge, and I'll probably go out today and get some sweet corn. The last batch was pretty darn good a couple days ago. Dessert will be cinnamon rolls that are almost ready to go in the oven.

What say you?

I hope we can stay on topic today....................

I'm doing a bird too, Joe; a roaster.
Haven't decided on sides, but Red-skinned Potato salad is just about my favorite ten-oclock break food (at work) so that's a great idea.... It's an even BETTER plan, as salads are the Warden's Department.

I say that sounds like a good dinner, Joe!! lol

We will probably just grab something out some where after my older brother gets in this afternoon. I'm sure it will include some alcoholic beverages too. lol

baby back ribs and keilbasa going on the smoker later ..
going to do some buffalo chicken abts aslo ..
corn on the cob and maybe a salad ..

Warden has just instructed me that she wants Mozzarella sticks for her Red Tater Salad (trade-off thing) so while i have the oil hot, I'll try that Asparagus thingy as well.

What are buffalo chicken abt's? Is the recipe posted here? I was going to throw a dozen regular abt's in the smoker with the chicken, but now my interest is piqued.

joe .. no recipe here .. something i saw on a smoking site ..
its canned or fresh chicken shredded and mixed with
cream cheese and hot sauce ..
sounded good so i am going to give them a shot ..

Sounds like a dandy combo. Maybe I'll get a small can of chicken when I go shopping this morning. Hopefully they'll have some decent jalapenos today. The last batch were for shimmel. Had marks all over them and they were getting soft. I don't think they sell well in this area.

I make something similar as a dip. Fresh or canned chicken, hot sauce and ranch/blue cheese dressing. It's really good.

I'm going to have to try that in the abt's. Thanks!!

my older girl wants mac and cheese with tuna. so i got the family size blue box 4 cheese dinner. i am going to heat and melt the cheese pouch with canned drained mushrooms, a can of cream of mushroom soup (no water or milk added unless needed to thin a bit), a bit of sour cream and some fresh grated white vermont cheddar and a bit of fresh chopped parsley. then cook the pasta and add some sweet baby peas in the last minute of cooking. drain and add to the cheese mixture and stir, then add a can of solid white albacore in water (drained and flaked) and stir.

Ribeye roast, mashed taters and gravy, and corn on the cob. For dessert, I am going to make a cake (don't know what kind yet-gotta check the grocery bunker) and serve it with homemade honey ice cream-I love my Cuisinart ice cream maker-best 60$ I ever spent!

Oops...there goes the "sticking to the topic" plan. Hee-hee! :yum:

I have chicken sausage stuffed with spinach and feta. Still trying to decide what to go with it. I have stuff to make a mixed-green salad and I would love to sautee some fresh green-beans...we'll see.

yummy!! honey ice cream?

After some thought on the subject of dinner tonight, I think I've decided what to make. Chicken sausage (stuffed with spinach & feta cheese) with mashed potatoes and sauteed green beans (with green & red bell-peppers) and a mixed green salad. :chef:

We're doing a wine-butt chicken on the grill with grilled veggies (got some fennel in the garden that's ready) and a green salad. I may also make some basil pesto now that the basil is big enough to pick that much, and use it to make bruschetta with chopped garden tomatoes and Parmesan cheese.

i want pics!! yummy brucshetta!! btw how did you know i was drooling over your basil and tomatoes?

Seemed more likely than grilled chicken and veggies  We can have that any old time, but fresh garden tomatoes and basil are a special summer treat.
