What's cooking Thursday September 24, 2009?

Mama, your dinner looked awesome!! I need to go pick up a couple more roaster chickens BOGO this week. The weather is cooling down.

Fred, that plate looks great!! I love orange roughy.

I got my food groups in with some things I had a taste for.
Baked orange roughy with a little cajun and dill seasoning. French fries, the catsup was added later. And I put a handful of cheddar and a little cream in with the broccoli for a little changeup.

Ummmm, that fish looks great!

I didn't go bowling tonight.........life got in the way. I needed some comfort food so I made an old stand-by. It's not my recipe and I'll post it all later but it is soooo good!! Cauliflower soup......

Great minds think alike Suz. After seeing Keltins cornish hen pics yesterday, I decided on roast chicken too...it's been marinating since last night. I think it's going to be dirty rice and broccoli for the sides...although mashed taters and gravy sounds good too.

Hey Mama, do you have a recipe for that dirty rice? It looks just like what my mom used to make!

Nice eats Chow!

Looking forward to your post. Good looking soup!

Busy day today. Started the day in AK, drove to ST Louis, flew to Chicago O'hare and then drove to Northern Indiana. Ended up making my 4 minute hot & sour noodle soup.

11 pm- DW came threw. She had a steak, with a pound of carmalized onions and peppers. a Vanilla Yogurt, and a Vernors. Good Night all!

Thanks, Cooksie & Blue's.
I love the looks of that soup, Barb. I've never heard of cauliflower soup before. Looking forward to the recipe.
And hoping you post your too, BM. Four minute hot and sour soup is right up my alley.

Thank you Blues Man and Fred!!

I had never heard of the soup either. lol The first time I saw the recipe I knew I had to make it. I love cauliflower. It's one of my favorites now.

Another ramen lover . That looks great!

I have been reading some recipes for hot & sour soup and see that many call for black vinegar. I've never used it, but I think it's time for me to make a trip to the Asian market.

Just south of Atlanta...what time should I expect you?
i be needing an arc to get to you? all kidding aside, i have been watching on the news and weather channel how bad it is down there. you are safe?

Well, I defrosted what looked like pork chops on Wednesday, even asked the DW "Are these all pork chops in the freezer bags?" ..."Yes"

Well, turned out to be pork chopped up for skewers or something. I've been eating grilled food for what seems like 4 decades now so I definately wasn't busting out the skewers. lol

I made a pork stir fry with assorted chiles, red bell pepper and onion in a ponzu sauce over white rice. Turned out pretty good. Good flavor and nice heat from the chiles.

That ingredient caught my eye when I looked at the recipe.
So it can't be found at the local Giant Eagle?

I don't know about your grocery store, but I imagine if the grocery stores around here had it, it wouldn't be a good brand. Besides, I love to browse the dried mushroom and noodle aisles at the Asian market.

The worst damage was on the northwest and west sides of the city. We had some street flooding but we live on a small hill so it didn't get near the house. Some of the neighbors weren't so lucky though.

That looks GREAT chow! I can taste it from here!

Gosh, Chow, Blues, Barb, Mama and hopefully none I missed, all really out did yourself on the good looking meals.....

Thank you RM.
Thanks Meme.

Hmmm, Asian market... I wonder if that's the building that has Oriental market painted on it? (lol). And I also wonder if it's still open and its owners have become politically correct ;^).
One way to find out.
