Whats Cooking Sun. 10/14 to Sat. 10/20/2012

Had a nice mug of tomato soup myself for supper. Might make a ham and cheese sandwich later.
Sounds good, but you better make a sandwich later.

Like my mom used to say. "We only had soup for supper tonight; so if in a couple hours you kids are hungry....that's ok, and you can have sandwiches later after the soup goes away!"

We would sit there, and try and think,"Go Away?"......Hey,Ma,"Where does the soup go away to?" ...... never mind she said. ''Soup just goes away fast cuz it's all water!"
OK...We accepted that! .... One thing I never forgot though! Especially when it became a necessity to have a sandwich or at least bread with the soup. ( In my case, Lots of Bread ). LOL

yummy food pix, guys!
jimmy, i've seen refrigerated ravioli that lookedlike those. the pop was grape pop.

Uhhhhhh, excuse me, but what is a chef doing with all that processed food in her house???? How can you keep your skills sharp by opening cans and boxes?

Joe, Jimmy.. awesome din dins!

Heh, I've been so freaking busy today with shopping and running around that I didn't really feel like cooking.
A cashew butter/blackberry preserves on nutty oat bread was really the only thing that sounded good to me!
Did nuke a little bowl of Healthy Choice butternut squash soup later.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got a presidential debate to gawk at.. LOL

i'm unwell, joe, w/ 'severe hemorrahagic gastritis' & 'esophagitis', & 'vasculitis' & 'neuropathy'. that makes food very boring & fluid ingestion & food ingestion take strategy to not inhale 'em. 2 of these being stomach/esophageal ails; the 1 other 1 means most of me spends 24 hours a day on chronic pins/needles to where i hafta place items to lean on each several feet & strategically place them before i begin wobbling & prayfully find somewhere to drop into/onto. the other 1 means pain & aching that prevents me from mundane tasks, from snoozin' to cooking normally.

so, in a nutshell- i'd rather ingest that food than cut myself, etc.- as it is, i use a few items on my keychain to get cans open, my teeth to peel foil lids, have my nurses open stuff fer me in advance, leave stuff like pop partially open, & i already get easy-open caps on meds. it fades soon enough. i've specialists, medicines, other ppl/etc. then i'll be cooking as i was.:bb:

jimmy, that grape pop is a fave. i luv baby food these days, namely those squeezy pouches. they have great combos, tho single-fruit ones rock, too- most brands, there.

Going to heat a can of oyster stew for lunch.
I think tonight, they're serving beef and noodles at work, so that'll be din din for me.

That doesn't sound good, luvs :(. Take care of yourself.

I ended up with a spinach salad last night. Lunch today is pastrami and sauerkraut sandwich, tonight is ???

Mommy left me today...

Gone to Mays Landing NJ to tend to her uncles needs. Frozen dinners she makes up for him..then washing his bedding and whatever his needs are.

She is coming home tonight too! I don't know how she does it. It's over 3 hour drive, but she loves the driving thing, and plus she listens to her books on tape.
B O R I N G ! ..... for me anyway. LOL I guess to each their own.

Nothing to eat for supper yet. Maybe I'll char some toast. Ole stomach isn't feeling too hot last three days.

I did have some lobster Bisque that DIL made. It was not spicy, and was very creamy. that was it as far as food today so far.

DD was over cleaning this house today. God bless her. She did a great job, and she scrubbed the range and cooking backsplash stainless. She's a great Kid!

cooksie, thanx.

ditalini w/ cheese & veggies.
cottage cheese & milk.
a few croccantini, too.
hankering fer a sugary food. a snack-pack w/ graham crackers, i think.

Ummmm!!! Looks like G oo D luvs.

Ooooo! I see peppercorns...I love pepper but NOT with this diverticulosus flare up. Grrrrrrrr!! I could have the fine fine one in th can, but I like the coarse ground. Umm! I can't have that yet. Soon Though!:dizzy:

luvs... Did you know they have these little baby graham crackers as a cereal?? They are great with milk and I sprinkle cinnamon on them. :thumb:

thanx, lollie, & thanx, jimmy.

that pepper is a struggle to twist, so i turn counterclockwise- i ought get a crank-style one. i keep getting this kind.
hopin' that stomach of urs gets well quickly. seems rather unpleasant!
would those be golden grahams (the cereal--). luv those. usually i take a baggie of regular 'ol graham crackers & smush 'em w/ 1 of my meat mallets fer yogurt & 'at.

Thanks luvs... feel better yourself.

I don't remember if they were golden grahams...or maybe honey grahams??if there is such a thing? I don't usually eat them, but the kids do. I am a shredded wheat..un sugared kind of ce3real eater, or just plain thick cut oatmeal dry with a little karo and milk till it sucks into the oatmeal. I don't like cooked cereal. :corny:

Welcome, baby.. :)

Aubrey, I love to take graham crackers and pour milk over them.
Then mush them around and eat.
That's one of my 'iWannaSnackButWhat?' things.. :yum:
Hope you get back in the pink soon.

appreciate that, lollie; TY, & u made me chuckle. i'll dip my grahams into milk, nosh on them, then drink the pcs. that got smushy in the milk. jimmy, now 2 other cereals arrive to mind- 1 was a s'mores cereal taken from the shelves yrs. ago. then there's another w/ pieces that look similar to puffy graham crackers. (those could be cookies, tho.)

i'm pretty hungry & was thinkin' blueberry soy yogurt & i jus' found a stash of 2 kinds of cookies. they're frozen. a glass of milk should make 'em pliable enough to have.
i'll find dinner later on.

I made flapjacks and bacon for supper tonight!

Was supposed to have ground beef and gravy over noodles. DW was supposed to cook but she fell asleep on the ez chair.

OHHhhhhhh...I ate twice this amount, and I am sick now! I drank the syrup from the dish!

scrap that lunch i was gonna make. (too busy.) when i got in, i got on making dinner. picked over the food in the pic. the extras'll be lunch.

got a 'lil of ea. tho forewent the feta. my barglass was 1/2 milk, half nutren. (that drink i drink that's similar to ensure+). speaking of, one day soon i gotta return my glass to the bar- we're allowed to leave 'em there if we prefer personal ones.

Breakfast for dinner, with my Italian bread, toasted, cheese omelet, with little piggy sausages

Dinner101812.jpg

This evening, a bunch of us are gathering out at my friends Roxanne and John's farm.
They're having a pit fire, chili..s'mores.. music and beer..
If it rains, we're moving into the pole barn.
I'll be making 2 dozen deviled eggs to take along.

Last night I had chicken with a side of squash casserole. I made some hot and sour soup the other night, so that's probably dinner tonight.

Sounds like fun, Sass :hotdog:

Oh Sass...that is so much fun.

I havn't this year yet, but when it gets cooler....I love to lite a fire (open burn with wood) in a contained area, and roast weiners and marshmallows...and baked potatoes right in the hot coals.

My daughter and friends and friends of friends do that inside one of the barns....There is a big pot belly stove there in the middle of the stall bays, and they gather round with all their fizzy and bubbly's, and party all night till they finally drop from getting dizzy. LOL.

Not me...I don't mind doing that, but my bed preference is a mattress...not straw! :dizzy:

Sounds Good cooksie....

Have not had one piece of squash this year at all.

Tina has a butternut one on the counter a week now. I'm gonna cook it tonight.
I got a meatloaf mixed......and just gotta form it and bake it later.

Havn't had MY meatloaf in ages. I want mine on sliced white bread...with gravy.
That squash will be just peeled / cubed / and boiled. Butter and black pepper for me.

Tina MIGHT eat some; but I doubt it!

Here it is.... sort of a supper.

Meatloaf.. butternut squash .... fried mushrooms in olive oil.

Tina had mashed taters that were leftover. I ate mine with and on bread. Can't wait for tonight to have cold sandwiches with mustard.

No clue what dessert will be. DW just went to the store; so she'll bring back something. Hopefully!

It was a windy, cloudy day with on & off rain, so I took a small pork roast and turned it into pork stew...comfort food. Very tasty!
