What's cookin' Funday ; 11/15

my family has aggravated me so we are ordering dinner!! (and i'm gonna stick to that story!! it has nothing to do with the fact that i just don't feel like cooking. i swear!! LOL)

That soup looks great!!!

I, being lazy tonight, decided on Mushroom Chicken and rice....Cambell's style......:hide:

It's leftover turkey sandwiches for us today. We're busy installing a vent hood. I'm so happy. I've been wanting one here at the coast for 8 years. (Sadly, I still create a lot of smoke when I cook, even though the end results are much better and I have never had to use the fire extinguisher down here.)

Lasagna, salad and garlic bread!

that looks yummy!! whats in it besides pork and barley? do you have a recipe or ingredients and steps?

Thanks. It is yummy (lol).

No real recipe. I just started the barley cooking, then took the stick blender to the leftover veggies from the other night's pressure cooker dinner, pureeing them most of the way. Then poured that into the barley pot and added some chicken and beef stock, along with the two country ribs I had gotten warm so I could pull them. And also added some sun dried tomatoes and just a touch of pepper. The veggies and ribs from the other night packed a lot of flavor.

And thanks, Dee.

Lasagna is in my near future, especially after seeing that picture, Mama. We were just discussing noodles and cooking them not too long ago.

Nice lookin soup there Chow! We are suppose to get a cool front in the morning and that would definitly be good for some chillier weather here...:thumb:

Damn... alnost two hours and no new posts in the dinner thread...
OK, I'll post again

Fred, the soup looks awesome! Is that liver you made?? :yuk:
Sorry, I could never acquire a test for it. It looks good though...

Nice looking lasagna Mama!

No dinner pics............we were too busy gabbing and eating to think about it. LOL

i stayed home today; no central park.

spent a few hours putting together dozens of transformers from a huge pile of small, obscurely interlocking pieces. it's amazing how all of those wrinkles in your brain works, and how you remember such igsignificant things as how to reform these things into vehicles.

then, my boy and i raked the yard, and i helped him use the leaf blower/mulcher attachment for my weed whacker. found out that someone's been letting their dog poop on my lawn again. time to get out the habanero powder.

so, finally, i fired up the grill and cooked a bunch o' italian dressing marinated chicken legs, and some sweet italian sausage. dw made nuked spuds and corn on the cob.

Yep. Beef liver. Something I haven't had for probably 35 years. I remember asking my mother how she made it years ago, so I went for it. I picked up a piece when I bought that steak Saturday. I wouldn't exactly call it a comfort food, but it brought back memories, as did the poatoes with just butter on them. I'm sure I've had that meal several times growing up. And thanks for the soup comp.

Dee, what is that, soup you say? It looks like chicken and rice. How exactly did you jazz up that Campbells?

Nice dinner there Chow even though I couldn't go the liver route but, each their own...Looks nice anyways...Dee, your chicken and rice dinner looked really good also....

Oopps LOl I thought that was steak you had...I guess because of the size of it!!
No it was indeed chicken and rice Chow, made with mushroom soup....it wasn't jazzy, it was lazy :D But it still hit the spot so I guess thats what matters most! ;)

It looked good Dee.
Did you just mix the soup with the rice and add the chicken, on the stovetop? My brother makes one that he bakes in the oven that I've yet to try......I like lazy and good!! :thumb:

I baked the chicken seperately , and steamed the rice. After the rice was cooked I added the soup and 1/2 can of milk with basil and other seasonings. then put them together :)
Yeah lazy is good sometimes, but I find when hubby is gone I get lazy quite often!!!!

Thanks. That's what I was looking for. I had thought you jazzed up chicken & rice soup, but you added chicken and rice to a cream soup. I'll bet that would have been good over toast or biscuits, too.
