I've never made - much less eaten a flat iron steak before.
I called the trusty "all things meat cookery" expert, my son Ty.
He didn't hesitate to say " let it sit out for about half an hour, toss it in a medium heated pan in a full 3 T of butter, slightly increase the heat a little and do it 3 minutes per side, then let it rest for a full 10 minutes".
Perfect! 😁 He knows I like my steaks medium/medium rare.
