I just finished book 10 in the Louise Penny “Gamache” series and 4 more were delivered today. I got the new C.B. Strike book, as well but saving it for later. I’ve read over 20 books since coming down with the Afib.

I buy many books at Salvation Army or other donation stores. But when I want a specific book (not new), I order from AbeBooks

I've been ordering from Abe for many years - excellent company, great prices, you can usually choose the condition of books you want, never had a bad experience.

I just ordered a book about the island in Scotland where the remaining inhabitants left after hundreds (thousands?) of years. I think I learned about it here, in the "Did you know" thread.

I had pre-ordered the neweat Dan Brown book from Amazon for my tablet. It was just released today and arrived. I may be up all night!
 
I worked last night.
As I'm standing in the lounge area- large window off the north end patio, I saw something out the corner of my eye.

I also got my flu shot and my updated Covid vac today. I waffle on the covid vac, but faithfully get the flu shot each year. For some reason, the covid vac makes my wrists hurt....exactly how they did when I got covid two years back....and yes, I got the shot that year!

My arm is a bit sore right now from the flu shot. It normally is if I raise my arm on lay on it.
I've had two covid vaccines.
I won't be getting that again because personally I don't think it's necessary now.

My arm is a bit sore as well, and my wrists hurt. I agree about the covid vac. However, I got it as I will be visiting my newest little grandniece in a month or so. Adelyn is my middle niece's first child and weighs 6 pounds. I know nervous first time parents, so opted to do it. I doubt that I will get one again for the same reason as you.
 
Getting over feeling frustrated 😠, then more recently to add to that-- brought back down to earth and out of that mode.
I found out on Tuesday that a friend from my hometown was taken from this world.
Her husband decided he didn't want to live anymore, so he decided she didn't need to either.
I won't post the news links on this, but those of you who can see my Facebook posts in recent days. That. 😔😢

When I went into work that night, I could barely think straight at all.
That feeling of sickness and sadness like being on the verge of tears all damn night sure wasn't easy.

I did on another forum.
I'd rather remember her for the beautiful soul she was. Not what happened.
She worked in housekeeping and laundry.
She was ALWAYS working.
I used to ask her if she ever had a day off, and she'd say "well, you know gotta make that money".

I will not be attending her service.
My friend Tami and I have already arranged for a beautiful floral arrangement to be sent to Weber's from those of us who used to work at Vancrest.

I spent the entire day cooking and cleaning. Tomorrow is Judy's 83rd. I'm having a dozen people for brunch.

Baked 2 kinds of muffins, blueberry with a fresh jam filling and streusel topping, and lemon poppyseed with a lemon glaze and a honey lemon butter.
Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.
Fruit salad with orangedew (orange honeydew), tangerine, dragon fruit, kiwi, blueberries, raspberries, moon drop grapes.
French style vanilla yogurt.
Mini bagels with nova lox, cream cheese, capers, and dill.
Egg bites with spinach, mushrooms, onion, smoked gouda.
Puff pastry tart topped with pear, bacon, blue cheese, caramelized onion, arugula, balsamic glaze.
Mimosa bar with 4 juice options, orange, pear, blueberry, pineapple mango. Maybe I'll add cranberry.

Then, I had to clean my house. And the kitchen!!!
I can hardly walk.

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. In reading her obit, she seemed like someone so full of life. How selfish her husband was regarding HIS suicide. I cannot imagine how horrid he was to take her with him and leave their children with neither parent. It is heartbreaking. My deepest condolences.
