What are you doing today?

I'm working on road maintenance today. Clearing mud out of culverts.

Yesterday DW was looking for a new centerpiece for a coffee table at an antique place, she didn't find anything ..... but I found a samurai sword. Made in Pakistan, but still very kewl. I thought it was a steal at $30. 29" blade.

I'm headed to Chicago tomorrow and will spend the week hanging out with my brother. He had a set back on his ablation and was in hospital Friday for a cardio-version which worked. He thought I should cancel but I'll go. With all this his FIL had a heart attack and in the process of dying so Jim isn't there. I thought it best Mike not be there alone.

I've got most of my errands done and am doing the last minute things I don't want to have to do when I get home. I'm also waiting for an arborist to look at having some trees trimmed and a few taken out. At least I'll get some firewood out of them.

Yesterday's flight to Chicago was cancelled and stood around waiting in line for over two hours trying to get rebooked on another airline. I finally was able to get on Delta to Salt Lake City and then United to Chicago and got in four hours later than anticipated. I was beat, I tell you what. On top of all this my checked bag didn't make it and was delivered at 5:30 this evening.

Tonight we went to a short Even Song at All Saints. That's about it.

I put together a Made In China desk chair over the weekend :glare:. I got it started, got so aggravated, just gave up, threw down the screw driver, and then took a break. After taking a break and having a beer, I came back, turned on some music, and finally got it done. Just shoot me if I ever go down that road again.

That is so aggravating when assembly and instructions don't agree.

I had one, the other day. A simple shelf, and pictures of the six screws. The two short screws, were shown as the screws to hold the shelf from sliding away from the wall.
Well... NOT... the screws were so short, they did not reach the metal bracket.
Then, to make matters worse, the kit supplied two paper stick paper pads, to cover the holes where the screw was placed. The holes are on the bottom of the shelf, but the instructions showed the holes being covered on the top of the shelf.

The up and down was backward. Or was it the down, and up?? LOL

I finished my new poncho:

It´s quite big and warm for sure. Maybe I´ll make other one later.

That's very nice, Saliha!

Waking up with coffee here.
We had some thunderstorms this morning.
I work this afternoon.

Still getting acquainted with this new laptop, and Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge.
The touch pad was driving me bonkers with it's ultra sensitive ways, so I got a wireless mouse.

Nice ....

My MIL used to make skull caps with the ear luggers. They make great gifts for the cold areas of the country.

Today is a day of celebration. I call it "Fat For Me" Day!
BP was the lowest since I was 16 YO, ( 112/74 ) and cholesterol and Sugar Dibedis was normal.
So, I will have a ham fat, and melted cheese for lunch ; maybe a couple eggs.

Just sorted all my laundry and got it started.
This house of Jane's has a basement and a laundry room, so up and down the stairs I'll be for 4 loads - whilst browsing the net.

Did I mention loving my new laptop?

More or less a relaxing day.

I've been on a cleaning out tear. I went through my clothes and got 2 black bags of clothes. The next day was belts, shoes, and purses. I did pretty good with the belts and shoes. I just couldn't bring myself to thrown out any purses. After I thought it for a day, I went back and pared down to about 15 purses. Some of those purses are small special occasion purses, so they don't take up too much space.

I also took the hard drive out of my old computer because I'm going to get rid of it too. It was easier than I thought it would be. Now I'm trying to decide what to do with the hard drive. I might just bury that sucker in the back 40 :D.

I save mine up and roast them on the bbq grill. does a number on the platters . . .
one caution: lots of plastic - can stink real bad

a "hard disk" is round aluminum plates covered with the magnetic media. not unlike the old tape recorder stuff, but coated onto a "hard disk" instead of flexible tape. floppy disks are the same - but the media is on flexible plastic vs "hard" aluminum.

the heat melts the plastic magnetic media off the aluminum plates and all your ones and zeros wind up in a puddle. rather unrecoverable . . .

a water bath is completely ineffective - the compartment with the round plates is sealed - aka totally watertight.

I think I'm finally finished with my clean out mode. I went through a drawer of manuals. I had manuals for things I don't even own anymore :(. I also went through about a 6" medical file that I pared down to about 3 inches.

I'm ready to move on to yard work. It's about time for weed and feed here.

I could never master knitting. I did manage to finish a couple of things, a baby's dress being one of them (NEVER, EVER again) or tatting, which I totally failed at. I can crochet like a fiend. I think it's because my grandmother showed me how to crochet, but I tried to teach myself from books on the other 2. I commend you on your lovely projects.

I'm subbing an elementary resource room today and then this evening will usher the 7 PM service. I should fast but of late get a bit hypoglycemic if I don't eat something - will take a tuna packet and crackers to school.

Went to Good Friday mass, then took two nice walks since the weather is perfect.

Last minute food shopping.

Learned something new yesterday

My bedside atomic clock has been off about 20 minutes for probably two years. I've just been mentally adding 20 minutes and dealing with it. I was just about ready to ditch it but decided to read up and see if there was possibly a fix. Sure enough...unplugged it, took out the batteries, took it outside, pointed it toward Colorado, plugged it back in, let it sit a while, and it re-synced itself.

I no longer to have to go through the tremendous mental strain of adding 20 minutes to the time every morning :w00t:.

Had the same thing. Atomic Time clock that projects the time on the ceiling. haaha
I could never set the daylight savings time on the darn thing when the time change came around. I moved it to the back room, and in 10 seconds, it showed the correct time. LOL

That's funny. I don't really get how they work. Mine would switch to daylight savings time but just kept losing minutes. :bonk:

Relaxing! after a day of running around and shopping.

Might be getting some severe weather later.

Me and Mr. Kitty will go to the basement if so lol
