Re: Pleased to meet you..

Buzzard, where do you go after 'poons? I am overdo for a tarpon trip. I haven't been in two years but my favorite tarpon hangout is Marathon, in the Keys.

We catch them on their trip north to Charlotte Harbor. My fishing ground is off Sanibel Island and Ft. Myers Beach.

Re: Pleased to meet you..

Chowhound, all diehard fisherman can pretty much refer to themselves as "fishbums". You really are something special when your significant other refers to herself as a "fishermans widow".

Buzzard, do you flyfish or do you fish hardware? Or whatever is good at the moment?

I wish I was a fly fisherman but never took the time to learn. We'll be using all kinds of live bait to snag the Silver Kings the first half of May and then my fishing buddy and I both head for northern Wisconsin for a summer of walleye fishing.

Yeah.... I used to be a fishbum. Local though. Both hard and soft water. I do miss it.

Re: Pleased to meet you..

Buzzard, sure sounds like you're livin' the life. Catchem' up!

I'm retired so finding time is easy. As long as I have a dime left I'll be buying bait or a golf ball. :yum:

So Fishbum, do you migrate seasonally for guiding? Some of the Alaskan lodges recruit our SW FL guides for summer work. Not a bad way to go in my opinion.

Re: Pleased to meet you..

Fly fisher here for the most part. Been doing it for 10 years and build my own rods & tie my own flies. Fish warm water and cold water, but not salt. Here's a LMB caught on a home built 7'-9" 3wt.

Here's the first fish (brown trout) caught on the first rod I built (6'6" 2wt.) using one of my hand tied Copper John fles in 3 degree F weather in February '07.

Fish porn? Yep, I got it! LMAO

FYI, I C&R everything except yellow perch and walleye. Yummo!

Re: Pleased to meet you..

Buzzard, I'll be taking this year off as bookings are way down, insurance is way up and fuel still high. I've thought about guiding all year but competition is fierce down south and tough to get a good gig.

JoeV, nice steely there. I only use the wood shampoo on salmon where allowed and within limits.

Re: Pleased to meet you..

Hello and welcome from Baltimore, I've been to Alaska but never got a chance to fish there, however do a lot of Fishing here on the Chesapeake Bay, seatrout, rockfish and blue crabs.

Re: Pleased to meet you..

Wasabi, unfortunately no. Haven't made it to Hawaii yet.

Renfro, I have had that but without the vinegar. Only 200 beers? You sound like some of my guests that have fished with me.
