Have any of you ever heard of this? I loved Tempo Meatloaf Mix since my grandmother always used it, then so did I. It's been discontinued, damnit, but I stumbled across a copycat recipe. The recipe called for about a tablespoon of tomato powder. You can buy it, but the quantities and prices I saw were bigger than I wanted. So I looked up how to make it.
Easy peasy.
I sliced 1 1/2 tomatoes (one storebought heirloom, one home grown) as thinly as I could, then dehydrated them for about 10 hours, until crispy. Ground them up in my spice grinder, and Bob's your uncle!
I'll be trying it with my copycat Tempo recipe in a meatloaf soon, as a beloved retro dish.
