Sunday dinner 15 August

Head Mistress
I'm doing something with lamb chops and fingerling potatoes...other than that, I'm still thinking about it.

What about you?

Dinner is a loooooong way off. It is moving day and we have volunteers due in about an hour. There will be savory bread pudding, fresh cantaloupe, juice and lots of coffee. I will need something more than coffee before the day is out.

Best of luck with your move, Mr. GJ - hope the weather holds for you. I used to live in your area, so I know that plans can sometimes be interrupted by rain showers. I have chicken legs and thighs ready to cook, but they don't know yet what they are going to become. Maybe oven-fried chicken, maybe chicken fricassee, maybe a Mexican dish...

Well, I am thinking of going out and getting some bbq ribs for dinner at a local.
I'll be making my own potato salad, etc.. to go with them.
Feeling a little lazy today lol

Pulled Pork, cole slaw and chips.

I just put a pork loin in the slow cooker with some of my favorite BBQ sauce.

I know I could have used a cheaper piece of meat, but I am using stuff up and I got it on sale. ;)

I hope the move goes smoothly MrG.

Chicken soup is on the menu tonight. Not sure if it will be rice or noodles.

Good luck with the move, Mr. GJ!

I just came in from 3 hours of gardening, mulching, etc...and am starving. Right now I'm having an apple with crunchy peanut butter and a slew of pepperidge farm goldfish...

Should start working on that dinner...

All the best for a safe and smooth move MGJ!!

Cheese and green onion omelet topped with Mexican blend shredded cheese, green onions and salsa. Sides were homemade guacamole, salsa, pan fried baby red and Yukon gold potatoes and green onions.

6 hours of 12 hours down. The kitchen smells so (bleeping) good.

Your meal looks so good Vera!! Does the pasta have EVOO and garlic on it? What herbs are on the lamb chops (was it a rack of lamb)?

Ah, the ribs, the salad - looks great, Sass. And Vera, your dinner is beautiful. Love the way you plated the pasta, and the lamb chops look delicious.

Peeps, huevos rancheros are served sunnyside up, each on a tortilla, smothered in ranchero sauce, which is a red sauce. OR, you can order "divorced" eggs in most places - red sauce on one egg, green on the other. But your omelet looks right at home here, except for the color of the cheese. No orange cheddar cheese here at all...all of the Mexican cheese is white. An aged manchego (manchego viejo) tastes a bit like cheddar, and Costco/Sam's Club both carry cheddar imported from the US.

Peeps, Sass and Vera...it looks sooooo good!!!!

Here's our dinner. I used Keltin's technique for cooking ribs in the oven. Put some apple cider vinegar and apple juice in the pan and put the ribs on a rack, covered it in foil and cooked it on 225 for 4 1/2 hours or so. I used the same rub that I put on the salmon last week and finished it with a little Sweet Baby Ray's. The pasta had mushrooms, onions, garlic and bacon.

My camera has become frozen on one setting, so that's why the color is off on the rib pic, but they were delicious! :)

Oh my, mhend, you had a great dinner! I love the look of that pasta - I have some small penne pasta - I'll have to try that combination. Our dinner was not really memorable - I overcooked the macaroni for the salad, and it didn't look that pretty. The cold fried chicken was good, and later we'll have some fresh strawberry ice cream that I made this afternoon. It MIGHT be picture-worthy, we'll see.

Pinto Beans- Corn Bread. (Thanks Mama).

You're welcome Dan! Glad I could be of help

Beautiful Plate Peeps! I love all of the colors...very appetizing!

Good lookin' ribs Sass...I'd need a nap too after that.

Vera.....have you thought about your own cooking show? I mean seriously, have you thought about it? I know I'd be glued to the TV.

mhend...your whole dinner looks delish!

Yum Peeps!
Vera.. that is just stunning. You always make it look so easy :-)

I am loving that pasta, Mhend! The ribs ain't too shabby either lol

A cooking show..?? I thought, several years ago, of submitting to Who Wants To Be The Next Foodnetwork Star...until I got the application. One of the questions was 'have you ever been known by another name?', and another question was 'have you ever been involved in illegal activities?'... I can answer yes to the first, and the second has always been questionable. The adult industry is not very black and white. The last thing in the world I'd want was to get to a certain point and find that the moral police have issues with my past.
So, instead, I'm concentrating my efforts on simply opening my own cafe down here in New Orleans. Do you think I'll have many takers to that venture?? I certainly am betting so!!

I absolutely believe that you will have a growing cadre of adoring customers, Vera. Some of them will be from this very group - might inspire all of us to make a trip to NOLA.

I'll say a "hell yes" to that one!
