Sunday dinner 15 August

that fettucinei is beautiful Vera!

Made Chicken in red mole sauce with cassava and white rice topped with cojita and pickled jalepenos.

Used that jar mole that you mix with stock, not bad but I would like to make my own sometime.

The odd triumph was the rice which is generally my nemesis somehow it came perfect I think because I totally ignored it.

i'd certainly try to be there for the ribbon cutting, vb!!!

everyone's dinners/suppers, lol, look and sound great. i'm actually getting hungry again.

we had a fun time at the sussex county fair today, despite a constant drizzle. at least the heavy rain held off until the last 20 minutes or so.

my boy won a few boxes of party snappers (those little gunpowder impregnated pebbles wrapped in a thin piece of paper resembling a potato masher hand grenade), a goldfish - who will be added to our goldfish/turtle tank, and a toy katana.

dw and i bought some crafts stuff to add to our haloween decorations, and a swarovski crystal goldfish since it was the theme of the day. also, we picked up a big hunk of honeycomb from a local apiary.

as far as food goes, we shared a smoked pulled pork sandwich, a lobster roll, and lemonades at the fair for lunch.

dinner was really good at "il positano" restaurant in kinnelon, nj on the way home: http://www.ilpositanos.com/menu.php

we started with clams posillipo, mussels fra diavolo, and garlic knots. then my boy had the kids chicken parm, dw had a daily special of broiled salmon over wilted arrugula and diced tomatoes, and i had the chicken sorrentino with a side of pasta.

if we lived closer, this would definitely become a frequented place for dinner.

Not a pretty one but I made white pizza last night topped with mozza, bacony-crispy pepperoni, hot peppers, dried basil, and olive oil.
I had almost the whole pie to myself with a couple of bottles of Black Toad dark ale. The pizza and ale were the bomb! The crispy pepperoni did the trick.
