Potica

This is the potica I made this past week. It's the first time I've done this on my own, it was always with my grandmother. It doesn't look pretty from the outside but it sure tasted good!! I got the recipe from JoeVs' brother and it's very similar to my grandmothers. I believe it's on Joe's website.
I also promised someone I would post this today. lol

It's absolutely gorgeous, Barb! Look at all those beautiful layers. I'll bet a slice looks fabulous on a plate - Santa would definitely pick this over cookies any day!

Wow! That looks incredible! I could go for a big slice of that with a huge cup of coffee......I'm drooling here!!

That looks great, and yes with a cup of coffee it would be heaven!

Which site is the recipe on? I thought Joe's was 'Breadtopia' but a search there didn't yield anything, so I must be wrong.

Barb, there are nut makosh as well that are just about identical to potica. In fact, you can use that dough with your filling. I posted that recipe a while a go.

Holy Pelosi - I'm getting Barb's homemade Potica!!!! (I must have been a very, very good girl this year, huh?)

You are the best BFF in the world, Barb. I'm no cook, though, so you're getting sex toys from me. I hope this is OK.

WooHoo...........that's what I was hoping for!! lol

oh and by the way, I think it looks just fine. I bet it tastes good, too!

Thanks Susan! Yes, the recipes are somewhat similar with the makosh. I've got that one saved to make next. Thank you.

I was thinking the same thing, Sass, LOL. I just had this image in my head of this big mess piled on a baking sheet!:yum:

But hey, that's my cooking and baking. Aint pretty but tastes pretty good!

Thanks Sass!

Yes, it is very involved. You definitely need patience. This is half of the dough rolled out....I don't remember how long I got it and it has to be see-through. That is the same table cloth my grandmother used when she made it. You do need a table cloth.....

Wow, that is impressive, so very thin with absolutely no rips or repairs. :respect:

SWEET! (pun intended)

I've been looking for ideas of how to 'chew up' the overage in the pantry, this looks like just the thing!

Thanks for the idea!
