My favorite time of year when the fresh picked Yakima peaches are at the local farm stands! I bought quite a few this morning along with Jumbo Walla Walla sweet onions, zucchini and potatoes. I’m a happy girl
Yesterday…
”Today we drove to Yakima to buy peaches and ended up with two lugs of peaches, a lug of apricots, Rainier cherries, pie cherries, small bag of local tomatoes, and a10 pound bag of of Walla Walla sweet onions. It was 100 degrees F in Yakima, but tolerable.”
Today we put blueberries in the dehydrator. The book said to cut them in half, which we did, but was tedious work. They do look weird cut in half.
Nancy made maraschino cherries today with fresh pie cherries we got in Yakima Thursday. There is four cups of Bulleit bourbon in the solution. There is also two cut up pineapple in the dryer and bluets are dried and bagged.
We had some peaches with bruises and had several culls buried in the bottom of the box. They got the dehydrator first. The pieces are blanched in sugar water which I saved for margarita’s which is excellent.
