Today would have been Mickey’s 66th birthday. Matt and Heather made a Day of the Dead tribute for him and her father. Matt said next year he will bake him a cake and some kolaches.

We got Mickey buried today and not without angst. When we got there the grave hadn’t been dug. After a few phone calls the grave digger showed up and got it dug quickly. He apologised and had not been told to do it. It tuns out the sexton has dementia and forgets to inform him. We had a nice graveside service and Jim read words over him that their priest had printed. I spoke and that was that.

After he was covered Maddie went around picking flowery weeds, leaves, and wild strawberries,

and put them on the grave. My friend’s Al and Barb brought flowers from their garden.
