Filberts

In the Puyallup valley there is a filbert farm which is the only one I know of locally not like there is in Oregon. Today was opening day for nuts and Nancy stopped and got 8 pounds. She’ll use them in her holiday biscotti and I’ll send 3 pounds to my bud in Iowa.

I call those hazelnuts. LOL I like those.

John, how did you get the bottom bowl to look like that? Did you put the nuts in a bag and smash them?

The farm has a state of the art commercial nut crusher. Nancy will use the shells to put in bottom of planters instead of rocks.

Yes, she will be making hazelnut biscotti soon. She is taking them to quilt club and two dozen for me to take to a funeral the 22nd. I like her cranberry biscotti best.
