Does any one have a Mobility Scooter?

Does anyone have one of these devices to help you get around easy when you need it, but don't want to use your car just to go a block or two?
My back & legs are killing me!! I can't stand or walk too long, so I broke down & ordered this this mobility scooter from Amazon. I was so tired of having to put up with an aching lower back & walking too far, so I looked into getting one of these devices to help ease the pain & stress of standing & walking for so long! Thought about getting one through my health insurance, but it would probably take way too long to do it!!!!

Most people in my building have one. They told that it helps them get around a lot. The street that I'm on has a hill, & walking up it is really a pain in the neck! It gets me winded & tired so fast that I feel like I'm out of breath!! This scooter should help make life much easier for me!! It should arrive the middle of next month. :whistling:

Good to see you again, Shermie - been wondering where you've been. I'm sorry to hear about your pain.

Didn't you buy a car fairly recently or did you decide against it?

Hi, QSis.

Yes I do have a car, & it serves me well. It works fine, but parking in the area is so scarce!! As soon as I go just down the street, the space is gone!! And it's so hard trying to get another space!! Having a mobility scooter would let me leave the car parked while I can still ride to the store or down the street without having to move the car at all. It would help save ware & tear on my back & legs. The best part is that you can bring it in your apt & charge the battery there!! Thanks. :whistling:

Where are you going to keep the scooter?
I would hope you have elevator access in your apartment building.

I understand completely! I've often wondered how you city folks ever find parking spots near your homes!

Also, the other day, I was given a parking sticker. I can now park in the parking lot. No more having to move the car fo5r street cleanings or risking the car being ticketed & towed!!!! :whistling:

Congrats on your new scooter! It sounds like a great way to ease the strain on your back and legs, especially with that hill you mentioned. A lot of people I know swear by theirs for short trips it really makes life so much easier. I hope it arrives quickly and works well for you.

He SAID in post #8 that it arrived.

Yes. It arrived yesterday. Assembled it yesterday. Took it for a spin today & climbed the hill with it. Easy as pie!! Went out in the neighborhood, ran a few short errands. Only thing was that it was so cold!! We are going back into a deep freeze again. So I'll just ride it in the building until the weather gets better. It's warm & pleasant in there!!! :whistling: :bolt:

I've been getting complaints about the backup signal, saying that it's too loud!! That's not my fault. It's not adjustable. Nothing that I can do about that. Also, Amazon charges for separate processing & handling, which is over $100 more!! :bolt:

You might consider wadding up a rag and taping it over the backup speaker. This would muffle the sound.

What is amazon processing for you? You already have the scooter.

I thought of you the other day when I saw a video of a guy on his scooter giving his granddaughter a ride on his lap. He let her steer and she steered him right into the lake. Oops.

That was when I ordered the scooter, Doc. That, along with the price of the unit comes right off the top. They don't say that there's that much for shipping & handling cost because they add it to the cost of the unit. They should mention it during the description with the cost, but they don't. And they are meant to be used by one person only, not for any child to ride along with an adult. Sorry to say this, but he should've known better not to let his granddaughter steer the scooter!! In my book, that is considered to be child endangerment! I hope that the both of them are alright!!! :bolt:

I agree Shermie. Gpa should not have done that to start with or at least should have kept his hands on the steering so he could correct. No one hurt but lesson learned I hope. It was on ridiculousness.

There IS a parking lot for the building, b8ut it only accommodates so many & it doesn't take care of the entire 250 or so residents. For example, I've been here for about 8 years, & I've been on the waiting list for most of that time. It is so ridiculous that people have come after I've been here waiting for that time, yet those who came after that time have gotten parking spaces before me!! I thought that it was on a first come, first serve, but that's not the case, & it's so unfair!!! Otherwise, you must find a spot on the street to park, & that is also ridiculous
because spots are used all the time, making it so ridiculous to try to find a place to park!!!!
