really, armadillos in FL???

Where else would they be?

Here's an article segment:

Raccoons + Armadillos getting more active in Naples FL + SWFLA as it warms up.

Marco Island, Naples (Collier County), Bonita Springs, Estero (Lee County), Charlotte + Sarasota Counties:
It's warming up around here!
What happens when it warms up?

ARMADILLOS: Armadillos in Naples and Marco Island start digging holes around your properties about this time for similar reasons as the raccoons, except in the case of the armadillo, their food source is INCREASING in number: GRUBS. Many of the fancy grasses and landscaping we have in SOUTHWEST FLORIDA are grub heaven, and the armadillos dig holes underneath these food sources (the grubs), just waiting for a tasty meal.
But meanwhile, they've left holes all over your property. And you can refill the holes as much as you like, but as long as the armadillo is still hanging around your Naples or Marco Island home, the holes WILL come back.

Here's they're US range, originally from South America.
Ugly, ugly buggers!
Have you ever seen one?

But that white part in sw florida is now filled in dark (that's my area) and this is a 1995 map so I'm sure they've increased in other areas too.
