What's For Dinner Sunday December 22 - Saturday December 28th 2024

We had no plans to do anything. As late as 11:00 on Christmas morning, I was still debating whether to have leftovers or find someplace to go out. It just wasn't feeling like a holiday. But I went freezer diving, and found 2 big beautiful duck breasts and then some parsnips in the fridge, so that became dinner. It seems I usually alternate between duck and beef Wellington for Christmas. So glad I changed my mind!

Duck with Port wine and dried cherry gastrique over pureed parsnips.

I had two of Jules' soft gingerbread cookies, and an Italian wedding cookie.

I brought home a beautiful ham and cheese sandwich on a brioche bun to have for dinner with a salad.

Did not touch the cheese stuffed ravioli or the chicken and cheese dip. Lol
 
Today Nancy went to funeral home with John A and it went well as to be expected. On her way home she stopped at Jack's Bbq and got 5 pounds of ribs, Mac and Cheese, and two orders of beef bacon. We had ribs and Mac and only could only eat two ribs. It was all good and plenty left for supper tomorrow night.

This soup turned out nothing like I expected, even though I followed the recipe to the letter.
I was showing it to Jules as I had told her I'd save her some. She was very nice and said "oh I've had that happen to me, looks good" lol

I think the recipe itself is off.
A case of too much chicken broth, not enough tomatoes, etc..
It's certainly good, just not IT.
